How dare the First Lady put Americans at risk by encouraging them to walk on streets or promote breast feeding as a healthier alternative!Conservatives heap criticism on Michelle Obama’s anti-obesity campaign
And in January, some conservatives even suggested that Obama was endangering people, blaming an increase in pedestrian deaths on the first lady’s campaign by saying that Americans were putting themselves at risk by walking more.
... Appearing on a conservative radio show, the Republican congresswoman (Michele Bachmann) found fault with Obama’s latest focus: encouraging mothers to breast-feed their newborn babies. Obama has said children who breast-feed are less likely to become obese. The first lady’s view is “very consistent with where the hard left is coming from,” Bachmann said. “For them, government is the answer to every problem.”

They are racist ignoramuses who will stoop to any absurd insult about her body because they can't get away with just insulting her about her skin color, as they would wish.I just googled her. Why do people call her wide load?
It is imperative that the government oversee the foods that businesses create and sell to the public, because there are people who would package and sell deadly poison to us, as food, if they thought they could make some money doing it.She is free to tell us what to eat and what not to eat but a baker cannot refuse to bake a cake?

So whining about government oversight of food sales and production is just stupid. Such oversight is both smart and necessary.
The question in this case is how toxic does the food have to become before the government bans it? And how stupid do we the public have to become before the government has an obligation to step in and stop us from buying and eating it? And the answers to these questions will differ with everyone we ask. People who don't care at all about the health or welfare of others will pretend they love "freedom" so much that we should let anyone who wants to kill themselves with toxic foods, or sell toxic foods to others, do so. People who want to own and control everything and everyone on Earth will think any law is a good law so long as they get to decide what it is, and to enforce it however they want. … And so on.
The rest of us should try to consider these questions more carefully, and try to find a reasonable balance between individual freedom, and the health and well being of society as a whole.
But then, TOL members are not generally known for their interest in seeking a reasonable balance. :chuckle:

No me, I rise head and shoulders above the crowd! I am the epitome of reason, compromise, and balance. :cloud9:But of course, that would include you....
