and as libertarians they are predisposed not to have anything positive to say in favor of a healthcare system to which they are philosophically opposed!

As am I predisposed not to have anything positive to say in favor of a healthcare system to which I am philosophically opposed.

Just as you are predisposed not to have anything positive to say in favor of a healthcare system to which you are philosophically opposed.

So pot calling kettle, pot calling kettle..

Some people have been trained to appreciate others taking responsibility for their well being.

Some people have come to realize they will be happier if they take responsibility for their well being.
Some people facing catastrophic medical costs for themselves and/or their families, are also facing enough adversity in their lives without the added trauma of having to declare personal bankruptcy!

Given that Americans are already spending a far greater % of their GDP on healthcare than their Canadian counterparts, these decisions are totally unnecessary if their government was to manage its financial resources in a more equitable manner!

Warren Buffett is on the record stating that he will receive windfall of over $600 000 if the Republicans pass their healthcare bill!

So you didn't vote for Libertarian leaning Donald Trump? Many of your Libertarian buddies did. BTW: thanks for not attempting to dispute that Trump is a socialist.
Trump is akin to the founding fathers, he's just as smart :chuckle: - your boy Teddy Cruz loves and supports Trump, why can't you?

And none of that is going to happen if we don't have single payer health care.

Lower levels of healthcare spending does not equal efficiency. We spend greater percentage of our GDP on healthcare because we give greater amounts of healthcare and greater quality too.

There is no such thing.

You seem hesitant to talk about the fact that Donald Trump wants the federal government to be involved in something that only the private sector should be involved in.

Trump’s forbidden love: Single-payer health care

May 5, 2017

President Trump claimed a victory Thursday after the House approved a more free-market approach to health care.

Then he capped it off by praising a country with government-run, universal health care.

Alongside Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull at an event in New York, Trump reflected on what the House had just done. He took the occasion to bash Obamacare as being terrible, and then he turned to Turnbull.

"We have a failing health care — I shouldn't say this to our great gentleman and my friend from Australia," Trump said, as The Post's Abby Phillip reports, "because you have better health care than we do."

Australia's health-care system is run by the government. It's essentially a single-payer, Medicare-for-all system that is available to everyone, with private insurance also available. (They even call it "Medicare.")

Consider this merely the latest evidence that Trump, in his heart of hearts, wants single-payer health care. Indeed, it seems to be his forbidden fruit.

Back in 2000, he advocated for it as both a potential Reform Party presidential candidate and in his book, "The America We Deserve."

We must have universal health care. Just imagine the improved quality of life for our society as a whole," he wrote, adding: "The Canadian-style, single-payer system in which all payments for medical care are made to a single agency (as opposed to the large number of HMOs and insurance companies with their diverse rules, claim forms and deductibles) … helps Canadians live longer and healthier than Americans."

Just before the 2016 campaign, Trump appeared on David Letterman's show and held up Scotland's socialized system as the ideal.

Is there really any doubt that Donald Trump is a socialist?

If the Senate health care bill becomes law, insurance companies will go from sellers of insurance to mere payers of medical bills. The only people who would buy policies would be the sick who have high medical bills that need paying. But with no healthy people buying policies, premiums would soar. Eventually it would be cheaper for sick people to pay their medical bills themselves, if they can actually afford to do so, rather than hiring an expensive third party that would simply add its own markup. The only way to keep a lid on premiums would be for massive, and ever increasing taxpayer subsidies to keep insurance companies operating in the black. Passage of this bill would ultimate guarantee the end of private health insurance and lead directly to a single payer, socialized medical system. If that is what Republicans want they should just come out and say so. Otherwise repeal Obamacare outright, and replace it with the free market. To do this the government must also repeal a lot of other legislation that undermines the free market, and remove all tax provided incentives for employer provided health insurance. That could be part of comprehensive tax reform that combines fewer deductions with lower rates. That allows Congress to kill two birds with one stone.

From Peter Schiff

I don't see how a free market system would prevent the part in bold. :idunno: How do you see a free market system working?

You seem to be hesitant to talk about how it's impossible to get 100℅ of what we want in today's political climate.
