Meh.

Here are my findings:

Town - 685/687
Nick - 619/621
Freelight - 259/261
Arthur - 324/326
A4T - 2285/2287

(@ 183) I currently give a whopping 2 point per rep! :first:

Much ado over nothing....seems like its just idiots frequently supporting idiocy.

Nothing new here....move it along.

now it's 2494
and what is "SOOTS"

It's now 3535 - over 1000 points in 24 hours. (That number might be changed by the time I post this :chuckle:)

Okay. Well, no one's denied there's another system in place, and I doubt anyone can explain how someone who's only posted a few times since the rep was reset already has over 1000 points, and only got them through the rep system available to the rest of us.

But hey, carry on with that truthsmacking. You're doing a great job of showing me what it looks like. :)

That's just sectarianism anyways, but it comes with the program here, since its openly biased in its theological perspective. That appears to be the prerogative of the 'powers that be' administrating the site,....so no surprise. Concepts of equity, justice for all, equal rights and priveleges....are more or less 'conditional' in such a system. I don't know how far we more liberal personalities can sway or change the tide here on how 'reps' are moderated.

Reps aren't moderated here. You can rep anyone you want to. You can exclude Christians from your repping if you want to. In other words, rep or don't rep however you want to.

Let's all make a concerted effort to load the wagons of every Soot member we meet. Stack those reps until the shadow of them make it hard to read posts around here.

Now that would be a lovely thing, don't you think?

No thanks. That would feel too much to me like sucking up, so I'll just keep repping the way I do now. Even though I consider some of the soots members to be friends, I understand that what I've said in this thread may not be perceived as friendly and I'm sorry about that and tried to be careful how I chose my words, but I had to say that I agreed with Arthur. The rep system doesn't give a "new, more accurate representation of user reputation moving forward," and I'm not going to pretend that the emperor is wearing clothes.

it goes up to 3 and 4 and 5 point change per post and higher i'm sure - the higher the rep, the more it influences. that may also mean the person's own rep power grows like the blob -

You can positive rep an older post, and I did that for many of the reps I gave out in the beginning after the reset. I probably repped many of the same posts under the old system. I must say that it was close to the limit I could give out. It wouldn't take many people doing this to make the rep counts go up pretty quickly. It appears this is what happened.

i heard there is discussion of a grand prize - the prize is yet unknown, however the first one to hit 1,000,000 in rep power gets the grand prize -

oh boy,.....I suggest you go for the nuanced meaning there,...its relative. No need to get 'technical' dear.

You can rep anyone you want to.

Indeed.

You can exclude Christians from your repping if you want to.

I don't care what 'label' you wear (like clothes that can be changed),...and I do have kindred folks I do regularly rep, as well as more odd n ends folks, or just peeps I get an 'itch' to rep :) - I'm not so prejudiced against a particular denomination, although I may disagree on particular points, a 'mentality' or 'belief-system', but the 'person' themselves in their true nature and humanity is another issue, if they can tap into that on occasion and see that 'God' is a universal loving presence, that 'inner God-consciousness' is not bound to sect, creed or denomination. You cant put infinite Love or Light in a box.

In other words, rep or don't rep however you want to.

And that's what most of us do.

so far, every day since the reset i have been told by the system that i used too much and to wait 24 hours. i usually use up my reps in 6-8 hours -

I just gave you a positive rep for this post, and it appears to have gone up 14 points if I understand everything right.

Yes I know PJ, I was also joking. My point is what REP are we getting? False teachers are getting reps. If TOL actually wants to level the playing field, they should get rid of REPS and just put a like button which will show on the actual post. I am on another site that does that and I find it much more constructive and EVERYONE sees it.
Make it Facebook-ish? If you want that there's always Facebook.

For Rev Testament and others - 'SOOTS' stands for 'Secret Order Of The Smack' and is a behind the scenes club with plenty of rep perks at least. It hasn't been 'secret' since Lighthouse made a huge faux pas in linking to it but there we go...

Oh that! I guess you can ignore my question AB. I should have read further before asking. You know, when I first joined here, I asked Knight to join the Order of Smack but then I changed my mind and reversed my request. I got to thinking that, as Christians, we have enough to deal with that is right out in the open. I don't hold anything against SOS members. Life's too short for that. And the rep system is a fine way to edify the Body. IMO, it's not the quantity, it's the quality. :)
