The astonishing dysfunction of Trump's State Department, in one quote
Mexico’s foreign minister, Luis Videgaray, was in Washington. The Los Angeles Times’s Tracy Wilkinson asked State spokesperson Mark Toner what the plans were for his visit. Toner, a highly regarded career foreign service officer, apparently had no idea that a key foreign dignitary was even in the city:
Wilkinson did some follow-up reporting, and found out that Videgaray had called Secretary of State Rex Tillerson to tell him he was visiting. However, the visit had been planned entirely through the White House, and Videgary did not schedule any meetings with Tillerson personally. This, as Wilkinson notes, is highly unusual.
“It is customary for foreign secretaries from all nations to be received by their US counterpart when in Washington,” she writes. “But Videgaray said the thrust of his mission meant he needed to speak directly to the White House.”
I predicted early on that Trump's Mexico bashing would turn out to be nothing more than a ruse on his part, as a means of leverage in his attempts to gain acceptance back into Mexico, to get his business deals there, going once more (he had basically been kicked out of Mexico for his shady business practices).
Well, what you are actually looking at in your above post; is the result of Trump's having pulled off said leverage.
The man is a sleaze bag. The Wall will be stuck in court for years.
The same old sleaze tricks he has often pulled through the courts in many of his corrupt business deals.
Who taught him that one. His father on one end; his other infamous mentor: Roy Cohn, on the other.
Same similar reason behind why he and his daughter met with fellow sleaze bag: the Prime Minister of Japan.
Same thing as to his fake tirade against China.
The man is going down...fast.
