Except this wasn't a bomb scare perpetrated by anyone, so it's a rather singular run. And from what I gather there's not even really a singular.
You know, I wonder though if the teacher who reacted that way knew about what happened with the sister and if that's not at the root of this to some extent.

Well that's not true.
Even if (for sake of argument) Amhed's intention was not to create a bomb scare, he did. He perpetrated a bomb scare and he has admitted clearly that he knew in advance that the "clock" was likely going to be seen as suspicious.

P.S. You do hit on one thing he seemed to anticipate: The willingness to assume the worst of people. Guess Ahmed nailed that life lesson.
