Because criminal behavior requires a "victim."

Now that we've established that you're for the legalization of marijuana:

Are you a victim if some doper smokes a joint? You might be a potential "victim" if said doper got behind the wheel and then rammed you head on, but potential victim and victim are two different things.

It's back to that loving thy neighbor as I love myself doctrine (dope is extremely harmful and mind altering). Ruined lives is harmful to all of society.

So if your gonna attempt to make that case, you need to include alcohol in the conversation on potentiality so alcochol should be criminal then as well. Let's see if your at least consistent.

You're using that lame argument which says that drinking a beer or having a glass of wine is the same as smoking a joint. Granted, the big corporations that have pushed booze onto society have ruined many many lives, and they'll pay for it when they meet God on their judgment day ;-)

But alcohol consumption isn't inherently immoral, while getting high/intoxicated is.

C. S. Lewis remarked:

Of all tyrannies a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It may be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron’s cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

It's that Libertarian mentality. Also keep in mind that many people who are for legalizing immoral behaviors like to see other peoples lives destroyed.

And your a dang liar. So because you are unable to persuade a person of the wrongness of drugs, you have to run out and push your legislatures to make laws to do it for you. Cause you suck at it. Now we understand.

Taken out of context. Lewis wasn't an anarchist, you Libertarians are.

"All societies of men must be governed in some way or other. The less they may have of stringent State Government, the more they must have of individual self-government. The less they rely on public law or physical force, the more they must rely on private moral restraint. It may do for other countries and other governments to talk about the State supporting religion. Men, in a word, must necessarily be controlled, either by a power within them, or by a power without them; either by the Word of God, or by the strong arm of man; either by the Bible, or by the bayonet. Here, under our own free institutions, it is Religion which must support the State."
Speech to the Massachusetts Bible Society (1849-05-28), quoted in Robert Winthrop, Addresses and Speeches on Various Occasions, Little, Brown & Co., 1852, p. 172

You didn't even read the article. It was an 18-year old girl.

So what? Your still saying the pot made her do it. Is that better for you?

Yes that's a tragedy. And the girl is responsible for it, should be convicted and then executed. Agreed?

I'm saying you've made up your mind and don't care about evidence that might implicate your idol.

And yes, if she's convicted she should be executed. So should the person that gave her the pot.

There is no reasoning with these people. They love their sins more than live itself. That's why we have laws, because evil can't be reasoned with.
