This is sort of connected to why it was only a mystery to Judaism. It never was a mystery really but intertestament Judaism could not see that, nor could it see the mission to the nations.

Getting circumcised, cut in the flesh, IS NOT A SIN to NOT do it.
Taking a bath and offering an animal is NOT A SIN if you do not do it.
But, it was sin, to NOT do those WORKS, if you wanted to be right with God.
Those things are NO LONGER REQUIRED, but they were required.
What is wrong with you people?

Glorydaze just doesn't get that humans, humans had to 'not do some things', things that would make them sinners if they did them, AND, they also had things that they should do, to show that they were good, and not doing those good things would show that they are not sinners...
BUT THEN THERE TOO, WERE THINGS, things to do, because God said to do them, they had to be done, because God said to do it...not doing those things would be sins because God said to do those things.
Sin: killing; lying; stealing; etc.
Good: humbling, yourself, forgiving others, taking compassion on your brother in need, not getting drunk, loving your wife, etc.
Clean yourself: Circumcision, various washings with water, offering animals, etc...
To circumcise, or not to circumcise was, in and of itself, not sin, and not good.
What made circumcision good?
What made that which is nothing good?
What made it good is that GOD SAYS TO DO IT.
The people HAD TO do it because God said to do it.
God does NOT tell anyone to do it anymore.

For it matters what God tells us to do.

The purpose of the ceremonial laws was to point to the promised Messiah. The nation of Israel as a whole only blindly followed them legalistically, but God provided spiritual insight and faith to a remnant within the nation, who performed the ordinances in a spirit of worship and awe, according to their understanding of the Covenant of Grace contained therein.
IOW's, the same Law of God, either condemns or it draws sinners to their need of the Saviour.

Those saved by faith in the righteousness of Jesus Christ, follow the third purpose of the Law, which is guidance into holy and sanctified living . . Also purposed by God to reveal the Saviour . . through His regenerated saints (church).
Most of the earthly "church" will do so legalistically, but God has provided spiritual understanding of the Law to a remnant of faithful souls, who follow the holy Law of God out of awe and reverance for Jesus Christ, of whom it speaks.

Since when are O.T. Revelations of the promised Messiah, a lie?
God began proclaiming His saving grace, in the garden. Messiah was promised by covenant in Genesis 3:15. A remnant of humanity has been saved by the grace of God throughout all of history.
Men have been receiving faith to believe God since the beginning . . Hebrews chapter 11 names several of them.
