I once heard a preacher say that it was better for a battered woman to stay with her husband because that would show him how much God loved him. How asinine. How ludicrous. How stupid.

I wanted to ask him where he found that verse in the Bible, but circumstances did not permit.

Agreed, very stupid. What it would show is that the woman didn't love her children or herself enough to keep them out of harm's way.

Because a females' happiness rides largely on her relationships, especially the one with her husband and children. Likewise, men should not be independent either for similar, but not the same reasons.

Tell you what, why don't you give an example of what you believe is ample reason for a wife to divorce her husband and for a husband to divorce his wife.

it's a chain reaction to an issue that's always current - rape. The guy that started it is in school and the campus is having a RAPEFEST right now. All it takes is a few recent posts and a thread can grow legs. It's controversial and current, then add name calling and re-explaining and, Boom !

It's worth noting that feminism gained traction while society was mostly under the dominance of men. That right there is a red flag that "feminism" is more about men than women.
