Wisconsin students group demands free tuition for black students

If black applicants had equal credentials then there should be no discrepancy between the total population of blacks and the number of black students.

Why not? What if, proportionately, less black students apply to that school?

Since there is such a discrepancy we are left with either either the University and its admissions are racists or the credentials of white and black students are not equal.

Ok, so it could be the case that there are simply less black applicants. It could also be the case that there are less qualified black applicants.

If either of those situations explain the disparity, then what's the school's solution?

...heck, what would even be the school's problem?

So no it not racist.

Interesting.

Then a scholarship offered only to white people, would also not be racist?

Again with the game. No thanks.

I think it should be given to the yellow people, and the green ones, when they arrive.

If a student really feels inside he or she is black, no matter what he or she looks like on the outside, does he or she have the same equal right to as obvious black students, or is this going to be a trans-racial issue?

Since there is not, objectively speaking, any such thing as "biological race," then I can be any race I want... right?

Since there is no real objective biological difference between people, based on race, then it remains more a social construct, thus there is more reality for claiming one is black, even if one would be seen as white than to claim one is a female when one is a biological male; therefore any criteria based to the notion of 'racial' difference must be grounded in something more absolute than what is on the surface, even if that grounding is socially constructed.

It would need to be grounded in actual social oppression, such being, one who lived in the ghetto, had little chance to overcome a life of drugs and criminality. Not any black person who may have had equal advantages found in most middle-class people who are more likely to attend college.

The fictional Cosby family would have a greater chance for sending their kids to college than the fictional Bunker family.

Looking at actual example limits those suffering actual oppression to a very few. Most college bound blacks are more similar to white middle-class white than black kids raised in urban ghettos, or for that matter, white kids raised in poor rural trailer parks.
