For the reason the one person that I know of tried, to prove it could be done and thus hopefully convince lost souls to come to the right path.
I pointed out in the next paragraph that position you mention here is the common response to the challenge along with the other major issue with it.

Well, if you'd said that to start with I wouldn't have had much issue as nobody knows. I posted that there's no way I can choose to be attracted to or entertain homosexuality because my inclinations are one way only, which I know to be true.

Especially when some of the "choice" advocates describe just how stomach churning they find homosexuality to be. If you're straight then the same gender simply isn't attractive on any sort of desirable level. Those who say otherwise are either trolling or they're not sure about their own sexuality.
