The New Rep System Is A Joke

Hey, she may well get over a 100 reps per day and especially since the reset, that makes sense. What doesn't make sense is that she or anyone else is getting a 100 different people repping them ten times a day. That requires more than just a suspension of disbelief.

It is not like 100 different people. it is more like 5, to say, twenty different people, who may be regularly repping back, all with larger reps because they have been repping each other. When you rep five, then you can go back and rep that person again. I think you know this?

Why am I not the same in high rep? I rep around and I am sure she is repping the same, the difference is she has been more regular here, in recent years and more know her. I am gone at long stretches.

Now take you. At one time you had far more regular reppers, and the, what did milkshake cal, them, main-streamers, that;s it, well, they were NOT repping each near as fast. The is why Knight had a big lead, followed by Poly.

Then you and some other came way up and they did begin to rep more, alright, so, now they are doing the same. I know you can do the same also, and this time no one can say you started it.

Just drop the special treatment and leave it at the level of humans have fun. I say complain less and rep more. Hey, I gave you some reps.

I do, although I been repping lots! You know I have times i am gone from here and with my family, I have my focus on them, not forums, so, I will go down then. It is easy to do lots of repping when one wants to.

The ratio is only relevant to the amount of reps.

Now in a group like the women's club, sure there is more concentration, so, there is going to be closer bonding and more rep exchanges, but there is no way to make the rep higher than by acculturated point ratio. That is about all there is to it.

Now what I'm fairly confident happened was people in your position had a plus, a thumb on your rep. Whether that thumb was general or specific among one another I don't know. But one of those happened and/or is happening.

If you want to eliminate one possibility (assuming the advantage is still in play, which given the lead and the talk about it might not be the case) rep me or anyone out of soots then look at the number jump. Then rep someone in soots and look at it. If that number looks the same then you're on to a general plus possibility. The only way to test that would involve finding someone at your rep level outside of soots (hard to do even with the panicked attempts to elevate a couple of exceptions) or someone at half your rep and get them to tell you how many points they're generating and compare it to yours.

Soots has existed for years. This isn't the first time I've noted a mathematical exception for them, but this is easily the most ham fisted example I've witnessed. The thing is, with a little restraint and patience what's been achieved and mocked could have quietly, steadily been achieved with only one or two head scratches, if that.

But you know people. We notice something we think of as good happening and we want more of it, usually until we can't fit in our clothes and people begin to point.

I don't think anyone's saying you're not a popular poster on here. Chances are that just with regular rep you'd get a high score soon enough, just not that high. Let's face it, you've got the perks of SOOTS so who wouldn't use that rep advantage?

If I figure out the secret handshake and password for SOOTS,..do I get a foot in? - you know I have my own social group 'The Esoteric School of Gnostic Wisdom',...but it hasn't been active in years, especially after our 'Gnostic Cosmology' thread was purged from the system. We 'gnostics' haven't been very popular with the 'status quo' traditional-orthodox conservatives in any generation,...but that's religious politics for ya

Now of course for those who know my liberal/eclectic theology might gather that I would certainly NOT qualify to be a member of SOOTS,...and probably wouldnt want to be, since my philosophical affinities and world-view is not in total harmony with the SOOTS paradigm,...but thought I'd humor this.

It really doesn't. Ultimately reputation is a numbers game. Suppose that Knight absolutely despises me. He's ultimately the most "important" guy here. But as far as actual reputation goes, he's still just one guy.

Though, I feel somewhat silly even discussing the matter even of actual reputation. What on earth do I care what you, Knight, or any of you other people think about my posting quality? You don't know enough for me to care.

I put the opinions of TOL'ers on an even lower level than I put the opinions of students in student evaluations. :idunno:
