Both David of the Old Testament and Paul of the New Testament believed the same Gospel which reveals the righteousness of God imputed Rom 1:16-17, so Paul quoted David saying Rom 4:6
*Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man, unto whom God imputeth righteousness without works

All for whom Christ died receive a free gift of righteousness imputed Rom 5:17, 19 which shall be revealed to them in the Gospel Rom 1:16-17.

Yes, and this free gift of righteousness was imputed to each one of God's Elect Sons Eph. 1:4-7 in their Surety from everlasting Rom. 5:19, because In Him they were reconciled to God even while being enemies and unbelievers Rom. 5:10; 4:5. So in time, It's revealed to God-given Faith when they are Born of the Spirit John 3:7, because to them, the Gospel is being the Power of God unto Salvation; a personal experiential revelation to them of their Righteousness In Christ 1 Cor. 1:30; Rom. 8:14-16.

OT Believers believed same Gospel of Christ.

The OT Believers believed the Gospel of Jesus Christ as does the NT believers, for the Gospel either way is a according to the scriptures of the OT. Paul wrote to NT believers this 1Cor 15:3-4, the Gospel of Christ is according to the scriptures; and Jesus said of the same OT scriptures from Moses Jn 5:39. The Ot scriptures that Moses was inspired to write did testify of Him, His person and work. Paul also called the Gospel he preached the testimony of Christ 1 Cor 1:6 !

So true!

Is. 53:10
Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in his hand.

This verse speaks of Christ and His Seed, His Church, which God had chosen In Union with Christ before the foundation Eph. 1:4-5, and typified by Adam and Eve's union in Gen. 2:23, "she being taken out of man". This Seed was given to Christ by the Father to be their Covenant Head and Surety Heb. 7:22; the men the Father gave Him out of the world John 17:6-8, 20 to redeem from sin Eph. 5:25.

Abraham's Seed is also Christ's Seed, His Church:

Heb. 2:14-16
14 Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil;
15 And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.
16 For verily he took not on him the nature of angels; but he took on him the seed of Abraham.

Christ, the Covenant Head of His Body, the Church, took upon Himself flesh and blood to redeem this Particular Seed Is. 53:10, chosen in Him before the world began 2 Tim. 1:9.

In it, the righteousness of God is revealed to Faith to Faith !

In what ? In the Gospel of Christ, Note Rom 1:16-17

16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. 17 For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.

In the Gospel of Christ, the Good News of Christ, something is revealed or made known. The word revealed is the greek word apokalyptō and means:

  1. to uncover, lay open what has been veiled or covered up
    1. disclose, make bare
  2. to make known, make manifest, disclose what before was unknown

Now exactly what does the Gospel of Christ make known, that was unknown before ? It makes known to them Christ Lived and died for, the Righteousness of God, that Righteousness which saved them, Justified them, before God, due to the Person and Work of Jesus Christ on their behalf.

You see, the purpose for which He died for them, or was made sin for them, was so that they should be made the Righteousness of God in Him, as Per 2 Cor 5:21

21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.
And its that righteousness of God here declared, that is revealed to the Justified in Rom 1:17

17 For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.

This Righteousness which has been imputed to the charge of everyone Christ was made sin for 2 Cor 5:21 is not known to them by nature. No by nature its veiled or covered up, but in due time God makes it known to them by the Gospel, revealed to God given Faith. So then its revealed to them by the Spirit 1 Cor 2:10

But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.

You see God given Faith embraces the Righteousness of God revealed to it by the Gospel, and it becomes the Gospel of their Salvation Eph 1:13, as it announces to their Faith, their Salvation freely given them through Christ. Paul also calls it the Gift of Righteousness here Rom 5:17

For if by one man’s offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.)

How did they receive it ? By the Gift of Imputation. Paul writes Rom 4:6

6 Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man, unto whom God imputeth righteousness without works,

Now every sinner Christ was made sin for, has this righteousness imputed by reciprocity 2 Cor 5:21

21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

In other words, its an automatic given, that those whom Christ was made sin for, are made the righteousness of God in Him, and that before they even know anything about it !

When the Gospel is sent as a Word of Salvation as per Acts 13:26
Men and brethren, children of the stock of Abraham, and whosoever among you feareth God, to you is the word of this salvation sent.

Its not to make a offer of Salvation as it is falsely thought and taught, but it is to declare , make known to a person their Justification in the sight of God.

Amen to your excellent teaching!

The Elect of God all receive this Gift of Righteousness passively, which also reveals their Union In Christ from Everlasting Gal. 2:20, for by the Grace of God, they always had remission of sins Eph. 1:4-7; Rom. 4:8.

1 Thes. 1:4-5
4 Knowing, brethren beloved, your election of God.
5 For our gospel came not unto you in word only, but also in power, and in the Holy Ghost, and in much assurance; as ye know what manner of men we were among you for your sake.

Praise the Lord!

This thread has 60 pages and no posts on the gospel.

Hey B57, the gospel means good news and John Calvin doesn't have any.

Just bad news and lies.

Just look at your own false doctrine and false good news. Your good news is: "We do not have to obey God anymore!"

Who but the devil is behind that news?

There should be at least one post on the good news since there won't be any from you.

People misunderstand Paul and think that when he says 'no works' that he means 'no obey'.

You should be embarrassed to have fallen for such a notion.

Trust everything that God says and do exactly as Jesus says, and that is how you have rest.

Faith without nothing else is dead.

We have to live on every word of the Lord, not just one word 'believe'.

Matthew 4:4 Jesus answered, "It is written: 'Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.'"

God chooses.

John 5:21 For just as the Father raises the dead and gives them life, even so the Son gives life to whom he is pleased to give it.

1 Corinthians 1:27
But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong.

God CHOSE God CHOSE WHAT?

1 Corinthians 1:27
But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong.

1 Corinthians 1:28
God chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things—and the things that are not—to nullify the things that are,

Who are those people?

Those people are the people who do not HAVE MUCH ACCORDING TO THIS WORLD's 'MUCH'.

What is this world's much?

This world's much are those who have money.

Those who have fame.

Those who have looks, and an education.

God does NOT want people according to those worldly things.

Those are the things evil minded people go by and are influenced by.

Does that mean God chooses any poor, uneducated, unattractive person (unattractive according to this world's standards?)

No.

It means that God chooses those who obey who submit themselves to Him to obey every thing that comes out of His mouth.

2 Thessalonians 2:13
[ Stand Firm ] But we ought always to thank God for you, brothers and sisters loved by the Lord, because God chose you as firstfruits to be saved through the sanctifying work of the Spirit and through belief in the truth.

Revelation 17:14 They will wage war against the Lamb, but the Lamb will triumph over them because he is Lord of lords and King of kings—and with him will be his called, chosen and faithful followers.”

1 Thessalonians 1:4 For we know, brothers and sisters loved by God, that he has chosen you,

James 2:5 Listen, my dear brothers and sisters: Has not God chosen those who are poor in the eyes of the world to be rich in faith and to inherit the kingdom he promised those who love him?

Matthew 22:14 “For many are invited, but few are chosen.”

2 John 1:13 The children of your sister, who is chosen by God, send their greetings.

Colossians 3:12 Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.

Amen, it's a false gospel of works which teaches that the natural man, by his own physical hearing, and believing and trusting with his wicked heart Jer. 17:9 can become saved Rom. 8:8.

And in all of Paul's epistles, he exclusively addresses the Beloved, those called to be Saints Rom. 1:7; the Church of God, sanctified in Christ Jesus and Called to be Saints 1 Cor. 1:2; 2 Cor 1:1; the Brethren Christ gave Himself for; Titus 2:14; according to the Will of God Gal. 1:4; [Not by man's so-called freewill, but God's Will]; To the Saints and to the Faithful in Christ Jesus Eph. 1:1, Chosen in Union with Christ before the foundation of the world Eph. 1:4-5 to have Redemption through His Blood and Forgiveness of sins according to the riches of His Grace Eph. 1:7.

These Justified ones exclusively, God shall quicken, make Spiritually Alive John 3:6-7 in His Eternal Purpose of Redemption for all His Election of Grace Rom. 11:5; 2 Tim. 1:9; giving them a New Heart / Mind Ezek. 36:26-27 to Spiritually Hear and Believe Phil. 1:29 the Gospel of their Salvation Eph. 1:13, because before the foundation of the world, they were Justified / declared not guilty as their sins were imputed to their Covenant Head and Surety Heb. 7:22; Rom. 4:8, and ordained / appointed to Eternal Life Acts 13:48.

Rom. 5:10
For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.

However, the non-elect shall never be quickened, but remain spiritually dead, and shall not hear and believe the gospel of their salvation, because they don't have any, but were condemned already:

John 3:18, 36
18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
36 He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.
