In doper news today:

Washington state lights up as smoking marijuana becomes legal

In the city of Seattle pro-cannabis campaigners celebrated in a haze at the foot of the Space Needle tower at one minute past midnight, the moment the state's new law came into effect...

Vivian McPeak, director of Seattle's annual Hempfest, said: "This is a big day because all our lives we've been living under the iron curtain of prohibition. The whole world sees that prohibition just took a body blow." [aCultureWarrior says: "Wait until Vivian finds out what it's like to live inside an iron lung after putting all of that THC into her's."]

The new law only allows cannabis to be smoked inside, and doing so in public is still subject to a $100 fine..."

Dopers, showing their utmost respect for the rule of law...

It turns out PSY has been involved in several anti-American protest performances. According to Mediaite.com he smashed a model U.S. tank while onstage in 2002 to oppose 37,000 U.S. troops that descended on the Korean Peninsula.

Kill those f***ing Yankees who have been torturing Iraqi captives/Kill those f***ing Yankees who ordered them to torture/Kill their daughters, mothers, daughters-in-law and fathers/Kill them all slowly and painfully

PSY is slated to perform for President Obama for a Christmas In Washington special to air on TNT Friday, December 21. As a result, a petition to rescind his invitation has been created by outraged Americans for his anti-American song lyrics.

Looks like PSY’s 15-minutes of fame are just about over.

I doubt it! This President will smirk and clap and show approval.
After all, her did apologize for how awful we Americans have been....

A United Kingdom commission made up of leading scientists, academics, law enforcement officers and other experts is recommending decriminalization of drug possession in small quantities and of cultivation of marijuana.

The recommendations are the result of a six-year study by the UK Drug Policy Commission, whose members include the former head of the British Medical Research Council and the former chief inspector of constabulary. The commission points to the success of countries like Portugal, Switzerland and the Czech Republic in decriminalizing possession, and to evidence that the relative harms of alcohol and tobacco make different policy treatment for drugs “difficult to justify.” In addition to recommending moves toward decriminalization, the commission suggests review of the penalties for supply and distribution of drugs, and of the process for classifying drugs.

Why would I be drooling, alaCarte?

Gosh Aaaaaron, I thought you were for the legalization of drugs.

(Be careful, as Galatians 6:7/Karma has come back to bite many a liberal like yourself; I've seen it with their children becoming drug addicts, etc).

Since this story doesn't involve homosexual men I know you won't be.

Obviously Aaaaron doesn't know what the term "Culture Wars" means:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Culture_war

Being that I remember how "sensitive" you get when you make reference to someone being a fag, but when the accusation is made in return...(Knight! aCultureWarrior is being meeeeean to me!), I'll let that comment slide.

Your reading comprehension is as bad as your ability to listen

What hard drugs for children? I notice you skipped past my response to that bit of ignorance on your part.

Be careful quoting scripture. I know how quickly you disappear whenever we get to debating it.

Report away. It's a well documented fact, you're obsessed with homosexuals. Is this supposed to shock anyone here?

So you're no longer for the legalization of recreational drugs such as marijuana?

I thought it odd that a wannabe Presidential candidate would make a statement like:

"...getting the government out of regulating [i.e. making laws against drug use and distribution] and whether children should have them..."

But then Daddy Paul is a Libertarian, and we know how Libetarians think don't we Aaaaaron?

Let's debate it Aaaaron. Galatians 6:7 is pretty clear, God doesn't like to be mocked. I said that those who mock His laws often times reap what they sow in that their kids turn out to be junkies, queers, etc.

(This is where Aaaaaaron talks about me being "ala carte" because I don't want to force God's First Commandment on society).

I'm a man Aaaaron, I don't "report away"; I was the one that got banned in that supposed "conversation".

If you would like to debate my "obsession" with sexual sins (abortion, homosexuality, pornography, out of wedlock births, adultery, etc), let's do it here, as I've done my best to keep my own thread "Libertarian free".

I am for an end to the failed disaster known as the federal war on drugs. Once again you are corrected on a point yet make declarations to the contrary because you don't think twice about being deceitful.

Marijuana should be classified and prohibited to the same extent as alcohol.

 You'd have to listen to the entire video to get his point. 1 min 44 sec "I think those rules should protect children". "I have no problem with state laws that would protect children from the use of these drugs".

Just another fail or intentional act of intellectual dishonesty on your part. As per usual.

Let's debate it Aaaaron. Galatians 6:7 is pretty clear, God doesn't like to be mocked. I said that those who mock His laws often times reap what they sow in that their kids turn out to be junkies, queers, etc.
:liberals:
Who is mocking God's laws?! What are "God's Laws"? Galatians 6:2 mentions the Law of Christ. Galatians 6:1-2

So much for Galatians 6:1. You're past restoring that person gently.

Who is actually mocking scripture here?
You can't even comprehend what is being discussed.

i.e. the legalization of recreational drugs at the state level (Libertarians like Aaaaron don't think about interstate drug peddling, it's thinking way past the ash on the tip of his reefer).

Marijuana should be classified and prohibited to the same extent as alcohol.

You'll reap what you sow.

That's what law's are for Daddy Paul, to protect the innocent. Yet you "have no problem with states protecting innocent children by enacting those laws?"

Gee, that's mighty Libertarian of you.

Obviously Aaaaaron isn't familar with God's Universal Moral Code (psssst, Aaaaron, He says nothing about the respective states having a "right" to sin).

Is someone wanting to legalize interstate drug peddling? Where?

Why would I have a problem with them? You'll have to explain why you think I would. Otherwise, you've only offered further evidence of your perpetual confusion.

Obviously Aaaaaron isn't familar with God's Universal Moral Code

Suddenly you don't want to discuss Galatians. Telling.

I made no mention of "legalizing interstate drug peddling", I was referring to the druggies in the next state over where legalization wasn't passed.

I don't care what you have a problem with Aaaaron, I was referring to Daddy Paul's comment.

What's to discuss? God doesn't like to be mocked, those that are supporting and passing laws that go against His Word are mocking Him.

And "interstate drug peddling" will remain illegal. It's a non-issue.

What is wrong with his comment? He has no problem with states enacting laws that protect children from drug use. Neither do I.

Would you like to discuss your original error in regard to that video? You're being either willfully ignorant or purposely deceitful. What about hard drugs for children?

What's to discuss? God doesn't like to be mocked, those that are supporting and passing laws that go against His Word are mocking Him.

You had better write your representatives about that. You know, the ones who are passing laws that go against His Word.

Let me know what their response to you is.

PolitiFact Names Romney Ad "Lie of the Year"

It originated with a conservative blogger, who twisted an accurate news story into a falsehood. Then it picked up steam when the Drudge Report ran with it. Even though Jeep's parent company gave a quick and clear denial, Mitt Romney repeated it and his campaign turned it into a TV ad. And they stood by the claim, even as the media and the public expressed collective outrage against something so obviously false.

Did torture really net bin Laden?

This week, the U.S. Senate Intelligence Committee plans to vote on whether to approve the as-yet unreleased findings of a 6,000-page report about its three-year investigation into the secret CIA interrogation program that is depicted in "Zero Dark Thirty."

This report promises to be the definitive assessment of the intelligence value of the CIA's coercive interrogation techniques. After the examination of millions of pages of evidence, the chairmen of the Senate Intelligence Committee and the Senate Armed Services Committee have publicly stated that coercive interrogation techniques such as waterboarding did not provide the information that led to bin Laden.

Nurses Fired for Refusing Flu Shot

An Indiana hospital has fired eight employees, including at least three veteran nurses, after they refused mandatory flu shots, stirring up controversy over which should come first: employee rights or patient safety. The hospital imposed mandatory vaccines, responding to rising concerns about the spread of influenza.

Ethel Hoover wore all black on her last day of work as a nurse in the critical care unit at Indiana University Health Goshen Hospital. She said she was in "mourning" because she would have been at the hospital 22 years in February, and she's only called out of work four or five times in her whole career , she said.

"This is my body. I have a right to refuse the flu vaccine," Hoover, 61, told ABCNews.com. "For 21 years, I have religiously not taken the flu vaccine, and now you're telling me that I believe in it."

Yes, if they can pass infection on to their own patients by refusing - their own oath just like a doctor includes doing no harm.
