Maybe that is because you were focusing on being a good Catholic as opposed to being a good Christian. That's not a negative on you. It's a side effect of Catholic doctrine. Some Catholics are impervious to it, some are not, and that is why I believe God brings some people out of the Catholic church.

Totally agree with you 100%!

I was not trying to be a good anything. I was a lost sinner in need of a Saviour. God just did not call me out until I was 19 though =)

Decorate? You mean add a whole new room to accommodate the large screen TV, pizza boxes and empty beer cans? Best to make it sound proof to save on having to turn up the television or radio full blast to drown out all the *fun*.

:rotfl:

Since we are all so bad according to some of them, why dont we throw them a bone and turn the dog house into the man cave?

Much better than my idea ... since the large screen TV will not fit, they can listen to all the traffic racing by and pretend they are watching "Mad Max".

Just as the Pharisee were the seat of Moses, the Catholic Magisterium are the seat of Peter.

Not all Pharisees were priests, the Levitical priesthood is gone and no magisterium of Peter has been proven. Yeshua is our High Priest and that's more than enough.

I have yet to see where it says the marital bed is for procreation only..... Song of Solomon seems to have it there for more than that.

The Church teaches that sex is for procreation and union.
As long as one isn't using birth control, one is inevitably doing both. It's not like there has to be an explicit plan for children, the passionate action naturally produces, and a couple just goes with it.

I doubt someone such as King Solomon was particularly worried about children. ~understatement of the ages :chuckle:~

The Pharisees were the seat of Moses as teachers of the Law but that in no way supports the Magisterium for the RCC. Besides that, the Pharisees were rebuked by the Lord Himself for being hypocrites and not knowing the true and Living God.

This is where I would bring up Simon's office changed to being Peter- the Rock (that's what Peter literally means) in which Christ will build his church upon.
~The founder of the Church and all that jazz~

But what's the point?

Yes, that is the clincher. I reject teaching of the RC *church* so there is no point in going further with this aspect. Unless it is straight from Scripture, I will reject it as any kind of authoritative teaching.

Yeshua founded the Church, not Peter, and the rock Yeshua spoke of was that which Peter exhibited....faith. The Church is built on faith.
You posted of discernment/judgement. I am praying that God will bless you with it....and heal your wounded heart.

Sorry, but a name change in those times was a change of office.

Either way
You all act like they just picked up scripture, looked at a passage in Matthew, and decided to hinge the entirety of the Church on it.

That's simply ludicrous.

Peter never held an office...unless you think being a fisherman is some hasty banana office. Matthew 4:18-20 -- "As Jesus was walking beside the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon called Peter and his brother Andrew. They were casting a net into the lake, for they were fishermen. 'Come, follow me,' Jesus said, 'and I will send you out to fish for people.' At once they left their nets and followed him."

Well, Constantine was a bit ludicrous thinking he could infuse the faith of Yeshua with paganism.

Well, Constantine was a bit ludicrous thinking he could infuse the faith of Yeshua with paganism.

The Greco-Roman pantheons were based on philosophy, the only thing was that these philosophies were divinized.
They took the divine nature out of them and extracted the philosophy to make sense of Christian dogma and theology.

There was no paganism involved.

I'm really just surprised that this simple observation is not seen among so many who accuse the Church of invoking paganism into Christianity- it doesn't even make logical sense to do such.

They eventually just replaced the pagan holidays with Christian truth, the only thing was that certain moot traditions stayed. You all just got it all wrong- you let that anti-Catholicism distort your perception.

I don't think so, friend.

It was posted and people were making comments, but then Knight closed it. I asked him to completely remove it and he did.

I am sorry you had to go through that with your husband, meshak. Porn really does destroy people's lives.

I don't advocate anything, what I'm saying is that sex is a powerful urge and when a wife is forcing their husband to remain chaste for weeks and months on end, expecting that they cannot release that powerful urge..
that is just plain ~anathema~ of any marriage.
Yes, the woman does have the greater sin. To hear women try to further force the teaching that peering on another woman is adultery- such women shouldn't even get married. *What the hell is that, seriously*

This is one of the many things of why I'm am fantastically anti-feminist. Complete garbage, this why marriages so often fail, this errant thinking and utter failure of women's accountability.

You are dismissing the fact that many men have porn problem before they get married. And many continue with that habit.

In Asia, men are allowed to have lovers besides their wives. The women accept it by saying boys will boys. It is because they are pagan country. Most people are not allowed to have such selfish life style or behavior because of Jesus high standards in this country. Why do you advocate low sexual moral standards of pagan country?

I thought Catholics have higher standards than protestants.

Catholicism is old school.
The Church tells inconvenient truths, and we deal with it however we will.

Protestant churches do a good job at telling people what they want to hear, so that they feel better about what they do. The Church however, though unintended, will make you feel guilty as hell.
