Christian Man Fired From $60K Job for Sharing 'Audacity' Film With Lesbian Co-Workers

No comparison between the two. Sharing his faith includes a condemnation of their lifestyle and their belief system and that's not acceptable in the workplace - and it's not acceptable anywhere that someone doesn't want to hear it.

Well, this is still America (at least today) and that means that if you are offended by someone's lawful and constitutionally protected expression of religious opinion, its up to you to grow up and self-sooth.

The whole idea that people can't bear to hear someone else say something that might challenge their "lifestyle" comes from an infantile lack of emotional self control.

It comes from an inability to deal with someone else's dissenting opinion therefore they demand that they must be protected from having to grow up and live in a world where other people have the right to say that their lifestyle is wrong.

Title VII Civil Rights Act of 1964 provides general rules for all private workplaces employing fifteen or more people. It stipulates that a company that allows employees to engage in non-work related conversations, such as those about politics, family, sports or other such topics, may not prohibit voluntary religious discussions between employees either.

Wait, are you suggesting that the lesbians "volunteered" to discuss religion with him? Because that isn't how it sounds in your op.

Maybe in some probably forlorn hope that rationality will hit you and you'll see how pathetic it is to have used that picture?

Act like a nazi, get portrayed as one, easy. The lesbians are acting like nazis. They could easily just say no, im not interested.

If and ONLY if he persisted with each one after being told they were not interested, then they might have a reason to complain, the first one was a total nazi, she was a facebook friend and he was completely on his own time, it had nothing to do with work whatever.

Complete fascism.

Well said. :first:

If you act like a Nazi then you'd persecute homosexuals to the point of interning them and exterminating them in concentration camps - as is what happened, so get off your silly little 'high horse'.

Hey, you're the one who ill advisedly brought Nazism into the equation with your pathetic little pic. As if there's even a remote comparison...

It's ill advised to use FB for any sort of "evangelizing" if you're representing a company be it for religion or else.

Yes, they are acting like nazis.

A steelworker, isnt "representing" his company in his free time, sorry.

Any more desperation posts to add?

No, he isnt by any stretch of the imagination.

As far as hysterical overblown posts, the one you just made here, beats all.

Saying where you work, isnt a representation of the company. :rotfl:

You and anna keep on crying. Tell me more about how this thread isnt worth discussing while you stay in it and keep posting.

If you act like a Nazi you will isolate a particular group, claim that their religious expressions are standing in the way of social progress and then start persecution slowly by forcing them out of civil service positions, targeting their businesses and removing them from employment for being affiliated with that group (which is how the Nazi's started with the Jews).

Sound familiar?

Nailed it.

One more note...

This happened in Ohio, which is an Employment At Will state. They need no reason to fire him. They could simply say, "He was no longer a good fit," unless there is a collective bargaining agreement stating otherwise.

Irrelevant, because that isnt what the employer did, now they will get sued for violating his workplace rights. (He will win also, if what is stated in the op are the facts)

Nope. The reason they gave is, " 'Someone said you didn't make them feel comfortable.'

Making people feel uncomfortable is, indeed, covered under employment at will. They did not fire him because he was a practicing Christian. They fired him for making other employees uncomfortable, which is legal in Ohio.

I won't hold my breath waiting for your thread about the court ruling in his favor.

It is as far as plenty of companies and places of employment are concerned and you're just naïve to think otherwise. Do the math and try to dispense with the hysterics if possible.
