I really think we ought to get back to the subject on this thread.
A person must first HEAR the Grace Gospel then, they must realize they're
a lost sinner in need of a Savior. Then, they must place ALL their faith in
Christ as their Savior. The Holy Spirit then, seals, indwells and baptizes
(not by water) them into the Body of Christ. It's a Spiritual work of the
Holy Spirit.
We live in, what The Apostle Paul calls, "The Dispensation of Grace." A time when
both Jew and gentile alike can receive, mercy, forgiveness, and eternal life. Only
our faith is required.
The Apostle Paul was given the Grace Message from the "Ascended Lord
Jesus Christ." During that period of time, the Kingdom Gospel was being
preached to th House of Israel and The Grace Message (Paul's Gospel)
was being preached to the gentiles. There were two distinct Gospels
being preached at that time. However, they both included, "faith in Christ."
Faith alone is mentioned one time in the Bible, and it is to tell us what kind of faith not to have. See James 2:17.
Jesus came with grace. There is only one gospel message.
Ephesians 2:8-9 states: "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves:
it is the gift of God:Not of works, lest any man should boast.
Works/deeds and supposed obedience are not required, only faith.
You forgot the part of having to obey Jesus and repent of your sins.
James was written to and for the scattered sheep of Israel. Not to the
gentiles/Body of Christ.
What does, "Repent of your sins" mean to you?
We come to God as a lost sinner. We cannot offer up our "repentance of sins" or anything else. Faith is the ONLY prerequisite. Our Good works/deeds and supposed obedience cannot be used as an offering for God's mercy, forgiveness,
and eternal life. Faith alone.
It means to feel bad about your sins and confess them to God through Jesus. It means you will stop doing them.
That is what the Bible says, but you will tell us what your false teachers say.
