Well, I'd say that certain beliefs in Christianity are more important than others. For instance, the resurrection. And I can agree that our faith and trust must allow for some flexibility in some areas, but my question would be what all you include in the 'particulars'. In Rob Bell's Velvet Elvis he talked about not having a faith that is like a brick wall where if one belief gets removed the whole wall comes crumbling down. I kind of liked that idea, but at the same time Christianity loses itself if it doesn't retain certain things so the questions become what are those things, what does Christianity say about God, how do those things relate to our trust in God/what grounds our trust in God, and how one goes about determining the truth of those things.
