Interesting that I'm virtually incapacitated and then this tome drops into my lap. :chuckle: I've been a bit restless lately and feel it's time to start seriously defining a few things I've avoided this far in, preferring to live with hybrid explanations that suit me rather than wholly explored conclusions that suit the facts as I can discern them. The truth is so often inconvenient. We'll see what we'll see then. :e4e:
I know...did I miss that somewhere? Set it down to medication or a rush coupled with inattention, my concentration not being by half its normal particular of late. I started round two yesterday...though waking myself this early in better form is encouraging.
Given how much I'm sleeping still and the day it might be next week before I have the attention span and time, but no later than that...and I know I should register the ECFs...but...which illustrates my point. oly:
Thanks. I think I'll consume it this week then, between restive naps. I'm irked by my unfamiliarity with terminology and foundational distinctions and this should be a clear enough beginning to ending my oddly spotty difficulty. I'll move on to your suggestion thereafter. :e4e:
Grudem's work is a decent introduction to systematic theology targeting those that have never tackled the topic. I don't think anyone reading it would find their their time was wasted. I usually recommend it to persons who have not studied much systematic theology as a starting point. I own three copies of the book. I find the book deeply discounted at times and buy it to loan to others who are starting to dig deeper.
The general opinion is that the book is a broad brush of theological topics. I disagree with his pre-mill and non-cessationist view! After digesting Grudem, you might want to checkout Berkhof or, if you want to get the definitive treatment, Bavinck's 4 volume work.
The new job it making it difficult to devote meaningful time to my TOL pursuits. I try to poke in here and there, but I'm not sure I'll ever get back to my 10+ posts per day pace...
Stepped in a bit in that Atheist nest where you served notice on McG. Had to. :chuckle: Oh, and I hope I demonstrated that I actually do know how to spell petard...gad. lain:
For a minute, he did, but I had gotten over it by the time I made the poodle point, which is one of my favorites in a while, along with my Ireland/Scotland illustration. Hope you're well and my best to your wife. :e4e:
