There are some good things about it. There are some awful things about it. Unfortunately, it's so complex (to me) that it may as well be a foreign language... I don't know what the proper action is, because modifying it any more would make it even more complex. And repealing it would do away with some of the good things about it (like preventing your health insurance company from dropping you if you get sick).

I think I agree with the GOP in that it is a symbol of what is bad about Obama's leadership. But at the same time, the economy is more important to me, and I think to everyone. (But especially me since I just graduated and need a job really really badly.)

Yes. The bill itself is nowhere near as bad as it's cracked up to be, but it's not the role of the feds and falls well outside their purview.

I don't know enough about it. I think that most people, for and against it, do not know enough about it. However, I think that a system which allows even the poorest among us to receive adequate medical care is a good one - if that is what it is or what it becomes.

yes but the real question is
can it
or
should it be repealed

it can't be
and
if it were, it would be even more complex

I want the government shut down
to stop whatever they are doing

I think it should stay, personally. The majority of people who can't afford health care, can't afford it because of circumstance, not laziness. I see no issue with people who are making more money to help out those that are making less.

Right now, my ancillary to Medicare insurance cost has gone up by $72.00 per month and my co-pay went from $10.00 to $25.00.
I don't feel that this has been helpful to me.
My income is small and fixed.

Yes. It is a boondoggle America can't afford. But that isn't the worst of it. Wrapped in the package is financing for baby killing. I don't want my tax dollars feeding abortion mills. Nor do I want them paying for the consequences of people's stupidity.

Example: Joe Schmoe is addicted to crack and fries his brains. I don't want my tax dollars paying for his stupidity. Church organizations should be able to resume their roles in rehabilitaing people like this.

You don't see a problem with people being forced to give money to those without, rather than being free to freely give?

They are free to give.
And forcing people to give part of what they own to a centralized power for redistribution is just what government is.

Are you an anarchist?

Only if it can be replaced with universal healthcare. Else, no, though I'd like to see it significantly altered over time.

It really all depends on how big you think the power of the central is supposed to be?

Do I think that the poor should have access to excellent healthcare options? Yes. But, I'd argue that the church would be a better option than the state for providing that.

As it stands, the church either can't or won't do it so something needs to be done. That said, like TH, I think significant work should be done to revising the plan, and if that isn't going to happen, then it ought to be repealed. In fact, it make far more sense to repeal the plan, make changes to it, and then re-implement it instead of the whole trial and error bit.

That is not at all what government is supposed to be.

After the call I just got, I hope it stays in place, but I dont want it to work, I hope it utterly fails and nukes our existing health system into the ground so the whole thing needs to be rebuilt from zero.

Health care providers, medical equipment providers, and insurance companies are as evil as our socialist leaders.

I'm not a real happy customer.... :)

It didn't go far enough. We should have the sort of system they have in Canada. Nobody should be denied healthcare because of his inability to pay. Period. We're talking about human lives, not mere commodities.
