For some reason I get the feeling that the topic isn't new to you (this is gonna be fun).
"...some control is required during...childhood"? So after childhood, society should let each individual do their own "thing"? Sounds like a recipe for anarchy to me.
So based on the moral code of a society, each individual (as long as they have a "rational mind") should make some sort of sacrifice of their values. Let's say that someone's "values" involve something that Libertarians call a "victimless crimes", i.e. recreational drug use, pornography, homosexuality, etc.. Should sacrifices be made by the individual as long as there are no victims?
"Some authority"? Be more specific.
"...a NEED to act" on what? More importantly, what is the basis of your own moral code and should government reflect that in laws?
