No, though I'm friends with the owner and many (maybe fewer now) of those who are. But I'm not inside the power structure and never have been.
I didn't say there was anything noble about the rep system, Tam. What I said, in essence, was that I got mine honestly and you guys didn't.
I said it because it was true and because the way some of you caught with your hands in the jar responded was disappointing and graceless...actually attacking and insinuating insult aimed at people who did nothing more than tell the truth.
And for the record (and for PJ--no offense taken) the way I found out that I'd gotten to the top?

That's how important it was to me. I hadn't noticed. But once I did I was proud of how I got there. And that's about it. Now it's pinball and I'll play a round or two for the heck of it then probably stop caring even that much. :idunno:

Unless the Rex Max is somehow changed, you will be at the tip top by the end of the month, so will have reached the max within a month and a half by posting in this forum....

Don't forget that rep scores include number of posts. As posts were deleted, rep scores went down. When everybody was reset, the system added up posts and applied rep accordingly.
An aside to all the circles we're making, I've noticed a couple of points I find interesting about the rep I've received over the years. In general, the Christian right is much more inclined to generosity on the count than the left. I mean as a percentage, beyond the "Well, there are a lot more of them" consideration. For all the leftist nudges I get from my friends on the right, I also get a disproportionate amount of rep. What I've noticed about the heathen and the left is that they're much less inclined to dole it out but more likely to do it in disagreement and in appreciation of a friendly and civil difference.
So the left make more gracious adversaries and the right more generous allies, within the context of my TOL adventure over the past several years. Of course, there are a few exceptions on either side, but as a running anecdotal rule it's held up.

I'm very inclined to agree with this. When I first came to TOL, I wasn't greeted very graciously, but as Christians began to understand my Biblical position, some became gracious while there were a few who were always friendly. I definitely appreciate those who are willing to look at me on my merits and past the labels.
What I found somewhat surprising, however, was the reaction by unitarian types. I thought I would be welcomed by them, but instead as a general rule I find I get basically a cold shoulder from them, and even disdain from a few. A handful are friendly. It is usually the same old arguments, rinse, cycle, repeat.
As for the "left" they don't do a lot of posting in the religious forums where I tend to hangout, so I don't run across them a lot, although I have taken a more recent interest in political issues in the hopes the U.S. can stop the slide into the abyss. But hopefully, value is seen in some of the things I present, and leftists may see a fresh viewpoint from general mantra of the left. I tend towards fiscal conservatism but with a bent toward social "liberalism." I know the opinions of people do change, and I do see that happen here - I just want it to happen more for the better.
Thanks TOL for providing a clean open forum where such important views can be discussed. I feel this more important now than ever.

The 'right' seems to perceive everything through "us vs. them" colored glasses. You're either 'with em or agin em'. So of course if they perceive you as being 'with em', then you're family. You're 'kin'. And loyalty to kin is a really big deal to those folks. :chuckle:
"lefties" don't rep based on kinship, but on content regardless of kinship. So when they rep you, it's likely because you've earned it, not because you validate their identity.
I'm to the "far right" and I give an, "At a boy," to ANYBODY who
makes a logical/reasonable, coherent, and brilliant post. I think
your assumptions need a little, "Proverbial WD-40?"
