Texas Crisis & Ted Cruz...

I can explain that in two words. Fake News.

This is a good example of how the mockingbird media works with the deep state and the Democrats.
Ok, That's one explanation.
@Arthur Brain @annabenedetti @eider
What do you all think? What would be the purpose of over-inflating Texas deaths due to this storm. If the article is true, then some 50+people from other states have died due to the same storm or storms, even without power failures. Why the focus on Texas deaths?

Why?

And more importantly, (why) do you think that doing so should be illegal/restricted/regulated/etc.?
Because in hard times the people need support, not 'commercial taxation', which is what has happened in the Texas freeze. It's corrupt to do that.

It's not just Texas power-supply bosses....... on 7/7/2005 when the bombs went off in London and stopped the whole place stock-still the hotel and B&B owners doubled and redoubled their prices for that very night. So it's not just your lot that do this. I remember that day well.... I was in London but always carried a foldup bike with me back then and I was able to cycle out of London. And my daughter felt the blast of the Tavistock Sq bomb as she walked to the Lister Hospital. I mention our attendance on that day because I remember how I felt when heard that fat-cats were making cash out of the carnage.

Mind boggling......... that people can presume the fiddlings of a 'deep state' during such a crisis. I expect that many more have died in the cold than we will ever hear about. I'm thinking of the homeless.

Can someone explain this headline and article to me?

-------------------------------------

Around 70 Suspected Hypothermia Deaths Reported in Texas Homes After Deep Freeze

DALLAS—With the snow and ice clearing in Texas after days of unusually cold temperatures, bodies are being found of people who likely froze to death as they struggled to stay warm after electricity was cut to millions of homes
Of the around 70 deaths attributed to the snow, ice, and frigid temperatures nationwide, more than a dozen were people who perished in homes that had lost their heat, and most of those were in Texas. They include an 11-year-old boy who died in his bed in Conroe, near Houston, and two older men found dead in their homes in the small West Texas town of Buffalo Gap in Taylor County.
...
-----------------------------
The headline clearly says "Around 70 Suspected Hypothermia Deaths Reported in Texas..."
The article clearly delineates 70 nationwide deaths, or whom "more than a dozen" were in their own homes, and that
most of "more than a dozen" who perished in their homes were in Texas.
To me, that sounds like perhaps a dozen people died in Texas of something to do with the frigid temperatures, but not necessarily hypothermia.

So how is the headline justified??? Certainly not from the article contents!

That's an Epoch Times headline. Your link goes to Epoch Times, not to the AP. Did you notice that?

Epoch Times doesn't link to the AP either - when you click Associated Press under the Epoch Times headline, it circles back to Epoch Times' own AP page. So I went directly to AP to find the article, and its AP headline reads:

Suspected hypothermia deaths in homes mount in Texas

I don't hate Mexicans at all and this was just utter drivel HT.
Your cultural appropriation clearly shows that you're a racist bigot.

In addition, your utter hate and disdain for anyone visiting Mexico is just further evidence of your's, Anna's, Eider's, and Rusha's extreme bigotry toward Mexicans.

Federal funding has been extended to help the people of Texas now.
See? That's Federal socialism at work within the communities.
Boy, are you an ignoramus. The amount of aid actually provided to people when a major disaster declaration is made is minimal at best. It basically allows for low-interest loans from the federal government to pay for damages. In addition, Biden is only declaring a disaster in those areas he is required to.

You still haven't answered the question as to "WHY" it is wrong/corrupt to charge extra in hard times, let alone why it is not a good service practice.

Ok, and? Why is that a bad thing?

Blaming this on Biden is insane.
I agree with you on this.
Texas has its own power grid. It's independent of the national grid and isn't regulated by the FERC, and has had little incentive (before now, anyway) to winterize the grid infrastructure.
Ercot is only exempted from sections 203, 205, and 206 of the Federal Power Act. None of those sections has anything to do with winterizing grid structure. Ercot is not exempt from any other federal regulation. Ercot is also regulated by Texas law.

Texas did not prepare for snow in the same way NYC didn't prepare for a tiny little hurricane/tropical storm.

Considering the circumstance Ercot handled the situation quite well.
Now the TX AG is investigating ERCOT:

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton on Friday issued civil investigative demands to the Electric Reliability Council of Texas and 11 other power companies related to the power outages, emergency plans, energy pricing and other factors associated with this week’s winter weather disaster in the state.

In a press release Friday, Paxton said he's launching an investigation into ERCOTand other entities that “grossly mishandled this week’s extreme winter weather,” leaving millions of Texans to endure sub-freezing temperatures without power or heat for several days.
But I thought you believed that the Texas AG was a conspiracy theorist?

So, Anna now believes that Biden's election was fraudulent. I didn't expect that.

Yes, that is true! Thanks for pointing it out. Do you agree that the headline is misleading?

I would say that people are wanting to print the news before the truth is known and the bigger number makes more money for the news organization.

What is known is that 70 people dying in a state of 30 million is not unusual.

What I tried to allude to before and that no one is paying attention to, is the the higher power prices are the prices paid by the electric companies and those who distribute the power. Some of those companies are taking a big hit.

Those people who contracted for power at a variable rate are now getting hit with a massive bill. Texas regulates the rate and capped it at $9/kwh. However, those people who signed up for the variable power costs are going to be hit with a rather large bill. It's similar to those who sign up for a variable rate mortgage, hoping that the rate will go down instead of up. Contracts and agreements matter.

Oh, yeah. When we have the DOE's letter telling the state of Texas exactly what they could and could not do. Yeah, just completely out of bounds to take the DOE's own documentation of their orders as to what they told Texas. Yeah. Big conspiracy there. But it isn't by me. The conspiracy was by Democrats and the federal government to punish Texans.

So the Biden administration waits until the extreme weather leaves and then says we'll help. Oh what a great humanitarian action!

What you are looking at in your post was what the DOE forced Texas to do. That is exactly what the DOE order to Texas says that I have posted on this thread twice. And people absolutely ignore it. Why? There was absolutely no need to buy extremely high cost power from outside the state if Texas had been allowed to use their own judgment and resources. You're looking at the surface and not digging down far enough to really understand what went on.

Read that DOE order carefully. You'll see what I'm talking about.

We didn't want a big fat wall put up to keep Mexicans out.... You're funny.
