And isn't it interesting that after Paul goes into detail about the vileness of homosexuality, he goes on to say in Romans 2:1-4, "Therefore you are inexcusable, O man, whoever you are who judge, for in whatever you judge another you condemn yourself; for you who judge practice the same things. But we know that the judgment of God is according to truth against those who practice such things. And do you think this, O man, you who judge those practicing such things, and doing the same, that you will escape the judgment of God? Or do you despise the riches of His goodness, forbearance, and longsuffering, not knowing that the goodness of God leads you to repentance?"

Yes, it is interesting, hypocrisy abounds, maybe its about time that christianity on here focussed on helping others and not sitting in pious judgement.....

But do you see the difference between the command and what Paul said? Circumcision was not taken lightly.

Genesis 17:10
This is My covenant which you shall keep, between Me and you and your descendants after you: Every male child among you shall be circumcised

Who was this covenant with?

Galatians 5:2
Indeed I, Paul, say to you that if you become circumcised, Christ will profit you nothing.

Who was Paul writing to?

What does that have to do with this topic?

Great post

i'm amazed at how many times all of those above behaviours are conviently sidelined in favour at the disgust of homosexuality, there's not so much room for self righteous condemnation on most of the rest of that list, we're all guilty of at least a handful of those.......

Depends on the crime.

Here is a list of capital crimes in the Old Testament. Should we reinstate them all?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_capital_crimes_in_the_bible

Murder (Exodus 21:12, Exodus 21:15) criminal
Kidnapping (Exodus 21:16) criminal
Disobedience to parents (Exodus 21:17, Deuteronomy 21:18) criminalI believe this is referring to extreme cases
Juvenile delinquency - incorrigibility (Deuteronomy 21:18-21) criminal same as above
Bestiality (Leviticus 20:15) criminal
Violations of the Sabbath (Exodus 31:15) symbolic
Adultery (Leviticus 20:10) criminal
Abominations (Leviticus 20:2)
Blasphemy (Leviticus 24:16) symbolic
Incest (Leviticus 20:11) criminal
Homosexuality (Leviticus 20:13) criminal
Witchcraft (Exodus 22:18, Leviticus 20:27) symbolic
False prophecy (Deuteronomy 13:5) symbolic
Worshipping a false god (Deuteronomy 13:6-10) symbolic
Sacrificing to false gods (Exodus 22:20) symbolic
Sodomy (Leviticus 18:22, Leviticus 20:13) criminal
Sex with a woman betrothed to another (Deuteronomy 22:25) criminal
False witness in a capital crime (Deuteronomy 19:16-20) criminal
Fornication by daughters of priests (Leviticus 21:9)
Failure to abide by a decision of the High Court (Deuteronomy 17:12)
Unchastity (Deuteronomy 22:21-24)
Cursing someone (Leviticus 24:14)
Negligence resulting in death (Exodus 21:29)criminal

I answered most of them. I would have to do further study to answer the rest, but I'm guessing most of the ones I didn't answer were symbolic laws that never were meant to apply to gentiles.

I fail to see what you're getting at.

Do you mean that two can equal a few? Because on the level you're describing it wouldn't make sense to denote two as a few. "Few people" would be a good sized town at least, that is in my opinion of course.

But the statement was merely meant to point out that if you start to dance around a subject, we may never get where we want to go.

Another thing to note is that ALL crimes are sin, but not all sins are crimes.

Verse?

&

see my sig!

Trebor has already been talking about it. When the Pharisees went to stone the woman caught in the act of adultery, He tells them that "those of you without sin, cast the first stone." After He gets done with them, He lets her go, telling her to "go and sin no more."

If Jesus advocated hating the sinner, He would have carelessly let the Pharisees stone the woman. Jesus would have never died on the cross to save us from our sins if He hated sinners. He hates our sin, because it separates us from Him.

Why would you think that Gentiles don't get all the Law but just part of it?

Jesus said "for, verily I say to you, till that the heaven and the earth may pass away, one iota or one tittle may not pass away from the law, till that all may come to pass." Matt 5:18

It's all or nothing. You can't just divide the Law and say "well this wasn't meant for us."

It has to do with discerning which laws were never intended to be kept by non Jews and which ones are intended to be kept by all people!

Bingo. If the questions were answered, it would have led to a discussion of symbolic laws verses corporate laws.

NO!

No more than anyone else should!

What about Jesus and the woman caught in adultery? Can't you follow the principle through to its logical conclusion?
That she could not be convicted without two wittinesses?

Shimei showed you an obvious example of how to tell the difference.

If the Bible clearly states that it is a crime for Jews not to be circumcised, but it is not even expected of Gentiles, clearly circumcision is symbolic law!
