I doubt he actually looked for any "rebuttal from the left," he just wanted to make a thread that could put down both Catholics and liberals at the same time.
A simple search turns up plenty of "leftist" sources in the first few news organizations listed:

Nonsense. This so called Muslim was apparently unable to recite a single verse from the Quran according to people who had known him. He was only obsessed by war and power, which attracted him to ISIS.
Killing a priest or a monk is forbidden in Islam. Sneak attacks are forbidden according to Islam, which means blind violence attacks on civilians is forbidden.
Maybe you should try learning something about Islam from a source that isn't a right wing nutjob website.

Of course, that assumes that fanatical Muslims really do follow their holy book literally, they don't. They ignore clear prohibitions and restrictions on how one may engage in warfare.
Secondly and more importantly, you have an incredibly naive view of what religion is. As if it is a mere question of how accurately one follows a holy book, as if it was a matter of straight forward interpretation. Hermeneutical principles on how to interpret the book is just as important. Take Christianity for example, you cannot claim to follow the Bible literally and be a Christian. Literally read in isolation (which in itself is not a possibility), the Old testament citations in the New testament make no sense whatsoever. They are allegorical and typological interpretations of the text, readings of the text only viable if you allow certain interpretational keys.

But I guess now you cry about context and how Christians don't believe or practice that. But why are you then citing singular verses without any understanding of their context in the Quran nor any understanding of their reception history and interpretation by Islamic theologians today?
