ECT Is your pastor deceiving you, or is he just ignorant?

Well, the warnings are there and the reassurances are there as well. To embrace one and leave the other is the equivalent of trying to spend one side of a coin. Regardless of which side of the coin it is, you just can't do it. Both the warnings and the reassurances are true. The challenge for those who claim to believe the Word of God is to find some way to embrace both.
The warnings are ONLY to the elect ... to make sure they will be faithful.
The assurances are ONLY to the elect ... to the faithful ones who will be saved.
For God to make this clear would be to entice mucho discouragement amongst the troops.
God desires that all of society maintain some semblance of being civilized (a minimum of sin).
Hence the Truth is somewhat hidden.

... the Gospel of Christ being neutered to the point it finds a bunch of backpatters
pecking away at their computers congratulating themselves for doing nothing
as it were some sort of proof of their faith.
Very, very sad.
Yes, it is very sad indeed to see today's church so full of
deceived believers who trust in their precious OSAS.
Ditto for that disastrous doctrine from the very pits of hell:
the pre-tribulation rapture doctrine.
Both false doctrines are products of Satan's genius.
And both will ensure that many believers will miss heaven.

While we're at it, let's not forget a third disaster coming upon believers.
Some well-known church leaders are spouting off ridiculous statements, such as:
It is possible to take Satan's mark of the beast and still make it to heaven.

What's sad is your confusing rewards with eternal life (which is a gift).
Thou just canst seem to comprehend that a gift can be taken back.
And I'm taken aback at your being so deceived.

In all of the many dozens of warnings about losing eternal life, gaining eternal death,
not being allowed to enter the kingdom of heaven, etc.
there is NO mention of losing any rewards!

Please try to get with God's program.
Or, I'll have to worry (as Paul did) that my teaching was a waste of time.
A waste of time? ... Did Paul really say that? ... Gee, what would that mean?
Oh yes, they might not get as good rewards as he wanted them to get. lol

Foolish ZacharyB.
Still trying to earn his way by paying a debt, instead of grace.

Romans 4 KJV
(4) Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt.

Foolish ZacharyB wants to remain under the law instead of grace.

James 2 KJV
(10) For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.

His verdict --- GUILTY.

Related fiction:

In the early days of Niagara falls, they would hold fairs and carnivals.
Some would stretch a cable across the falls and perform stunts by walking on the wire. Occasionally there would be a wire walker who would prove himself exceptional with his daring feats on the wire and it thrilled the crowds. Upon returning from the wire to the cheering crowd, he points to a wheelbarrow and says, "Do you believe that I can push that wheelbarrow across the wire?" The crowd yells, "Yeah, you can do it!"
The wire walker replies, "Then, if you really believe, one of you climb into the wheelbarrow and I'll push you across the wire!"
If you were the one in the wheelbarrow, would you try to help or would you sit quiet in trust?

Are you placing your total trust in Christ's finished work on the cross for your right standing/justification before GOD and trust Him to carry you across the wire of eternity, or are you placing some of your trust/faith/confidence in yourself, foolishlessly thinking that your puny attempts at personal righteousness could possibly help in any way and add anything to what He has done? To believe so, is to say that Christ's blood was not good enough.

Rom 5:1 Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:

No flesh will climb up a ladder to heaven and then boast of what they have accomplished. To even imagine this brings despite to the Spirit of grace.

1Co 1:18 For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.
1Co 1:29 That no flesh should glory[boast] in his presence.

I'm placing my trust/faith/confidence in ALL of the NT Scriptures!!!
Is that okay with you?
Some of them clearly say that believers must "practice righteousness".
And MANY say believers must obey Jesus' commandments to be saved.
Anything else you'd care to have cleared up?

Context, context!
Rightly divide!

Php 3:3 For we are the circumcision, which worship God in the spirit, and rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh.
Php 3:4 Though I might also have confidence in the flesh. If any other man thinketh that he hath whereof he might trust in the flesh, I more:
Php 3:9 And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith:

When you lie, I call you a liar. Would you rather I say this to you?

Acts 13:10 And said, O full of all subtilty and all mischief, thou child of the devil, thou enemy of all righteousness, wilt thou not cease to pervert the right ways of the Lord?

If only that were true.

Romans 5 KJV
(18) Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life.

Not the righteousness of two --- you and Christ.
Just one --- Christ.

As James explained fully ... 'tis by faith and works both.
'Tis all through the NT, dearest blind one.

The foolish ZacharyB is still trying to scoot the righteousness of Christ over so he can add his own.

Thanks...so he's Meshak with a better vocabulary.
