Is Jesus God?

Mary as Mother of God (Theotokos) is relevant to this thread because one main reason that the Council of Ephesus taught that Mary is truly the Mother of God in 431 A.D. was to reinforce the teaching that Jesus is in fact GOD.

By saying that Mary "bore" God in her womb, we say that Jesus was in fact God.

Traditionally, to "mother" is to bear, and to "father" is to originate.
So Mary bore Jesus, divine and human, in her womb, and is rightly called Mother of God, or "God bearer" (Theotokos). She did not originate God, she bore him in her womb.

It is not appropriate to call Mary the mother of God.

When God the Father lowered Himself as a man in the flesh, he was a real man who as a man gave God all the glory.

Answer the question, GT.

If Jesus is God the Father (as you claim), then who gave God the Father all authority?

Yes, the reason for the teaching sounds good, but it is not scriptural, and thus false conclusions have been inaccurately drawn and taught.

I believe it sufficient to prove Christ's deity in Mary's womb by quoting Luke 1:35.

Traditionally, to "mother" is to bear, and to "father" is to originate.
So Mary bore Jesus, divine and human, in her womb, and is rightly called Mother of God, or "God bearer" (Theotokos).

This is the error of the Roman Catholic Church dogma.

She did not originate God, she bore him in her womb.

This is scripturally correct and according to Godly promise versus manmade "tradition." Luke 1:30-35

Says who, you? Mary as Theotokos has been Christian beliefe since 431 A.D.

And again, as I said, one main reason that the Council of Ephesus taught that Mary is truly the Mother of God in 431 A.D. was to reinforce the teaching that Jesus is in fact GOD.

You do not tell 2,000 years of Christians that Christian doctrine is "not appropriate."

....This is the error of the Roman Catholic Church dogma......

Non-sequitur. There is no error in Catholic dogma. And besides, that is also Eastern Orthodox, Coptic, and Traditional Anglican teaching as well.

There is only one Spirit.

Do you agree?

There is only one Holy Spirit.

But He is not the Father nor the Son, even though all three Persons of the Trinity are of the same Holy Spirit.

Just as Jesus Christ revealed He and the Father are One, does not mean there is no biblical distinction made between the Father and the Son.

Theology proper demands we very seriously adhere only to the exact and total of God's Word.

Sola Scriptura!

There is only one Holy Spirit.

That is right.
But He is not the Father nor the Son,

But there is only one Spirit, remember

The Father is Spirit. The Son is Spirit. The Holy Spirit is Spirit.

There are not three different Spirits.

even though all three Persons of the Trinity are of the same Holy Spirit.

There is only one Spirit and that makes the Father who is Spirit, and the Son who is Spirit one and the same.

Just as Jesus Christ revealed He and the Father are One, does not mean there is no biblical distinction made between the Father and the Son.

Sola Scriptura!

I am careful to only go by God's Word.
