Greetings again xfro,
Sorry, but Paul was clearly referring to himself, not Christ.
I was responding here to your quotation of Mark 16:19. Yes, Jesus, a man, the Son of God, is in heaven, bu Paul is in the grave.

He said "For I am in a strait betwixt two, having a desire to depart, and to be with Christ; which is far better:" Paul was clearly saying that if he desires to die so that he can be with Christ. Paul knows it's far better because he has been there!! I don't believe in soul sleep.
I don’t believe in soul sleep either, but I believe that when we die we return to the dust Genesis 3:19, Daniel 12:2. If you consider the word “depart” in 2 Timothy 4:7-8, and what Paul anticipated, you will discover that Paul had a different hope to those who have now adopted the pagan philosophy of immortal souls and heaven going immediately at death. Paul was looking forward to the return of Jesus, not going to heaven. That is when he will be with Christ, not before. Paul believed in and taught the resurrection 1 Corinthians 15:1-58.

Kind regards
Trevor

I don't think that's what the Bible is saying. Paul also said to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.

I think it's pretty clear that when we die we immediately go to be with the Lord:

2Co 5:6 Therefore we are always confident, knowing that, whilst we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord:
7 (For we walk by faith, not by sight:)
8 We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.

Greetings again xfro,
I don't think that's what the Bible is saying. Paul also said to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.
I think it's pretty clear that when we die we immediately go to be with the Lord:
2Co 5:6 Therefore we are always confident, knowing that, whilst we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord:
7 (For we walk by faith, not by sight: )
8 We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.
The context either side shows that Paul is talking about what will happen when Christ returns:
2 Corinthians 5:1-4,10 (KJV): 1 For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. 2 For in this we groan, earnestly desiring to be clothed upon with our house which is from heaven: 3 If so be that being clothed we shall not be found naked. 4 For we that are in this tabernacle do groan, being burdened: not for that we would be unclothed, but clothed upon, that mortality might be swallowed up of life.
10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.

On a personal note, we buried my mother-in-law recently at the age of 100, next to her husband who preceded her by 38 years. They each have the simple inscription: “Here rests … waiting the return of the Lord from heaven”. We believe that they will be reunited at that time, not before. Her grandson in the burial service spoke of their coming resurrection.

On the other hand one of my mates comes from a rural community, and he and his wife used to be CofE. He attends many funerals but nearly each time the minister states that their immortal soul is now in heaven. To my mind this negates the return of Christ which was a major element of 1st century Christianity. For example check how many times the coming of Christ is mentioned in 1st and 2nd Thessalonians.

Kind regards
Trevor

John, who wrote this was a Disciple and an eyewitness and the Disciples lse totally different.

As I can see, you too cannot distinguish between a witness and an eyewitness. I asked for an eyewitness and you haven't showed even a single one. John never wrote a single word of the NT; let alone to write a gospel. Luke reports about Peter and John as illiterate people and, illiterate people don't write books. (Act 4:13)

Joh 20:25 The other disciples therefore said unto him, We have seen the Lord. But he said unto them, Except I shall see in his hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and thrust my hand into his side, I will not believe.

This has nothing to do with being an eyewitness of Jesus' resurrection. Luke said Jesus appeared to his disciples for 40 days after his passion or sufferings, not after his resurrection.

26 ¶ And after eight days again his disciples were within, and Thomas with them: then came Jesus, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said, Peace be unto you. were eyewitnesses and even doubting Thomas believed in the end.

Neither were the disciples of Jesus eyewitnesses to the rising of Jesus from the tomb nor none of them wrote a single word of the NT. They were loyal Jews and, loyal Jews would not write against their own Faith.

27 Then saith he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side: and be not faithless, but believing.

And Thomas was no eyewitness to Jesus' resurrection.

28 And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God. 29 Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.

Thomas could not have been a Jew to address Jesus, the son of man as if he was his God. This is evidence that Hellenists former disciples of Paul wrote the gospels.

ARE YOU 100% SURE THAT IF YOU DIED TODAY THAT YOU WOULD GO TO HEAVEN?

There are some things that you should know:

1. Realize that you are a sinner and in need of a Savior:

Ro 3:23 "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;"

Ro 3:10 "As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:"

This all began with the story of Adam and Eve in the garden of Eden. God created them perfect, there was no death or sorrow. God told them not to eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. They disobeyed God and as a result, sin entered into the world. The pain which this world sees is the result of sin.

2. Because of our sins, we die both spiritually and physically, but God sent His Son to die so that you can have a chance not to have to go to hell by accepting what He did on the cross for you:

Ro 6:23 "For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."

Ro 5:8 "But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. for us."

Every person who has ever lived is a sinner and is not righteous because we do bad things. A sin is a crime against God, just as if you steal something at the store, it is punishable by going to jail. It's the same thing with sin. Even if we lie one time, the punishment is hell, which is a prison for those who commit crimes against God. That’s because you must be perfect in order to get to heaven. No matter how well you live your life from then on, you have already committed a sin which will be punished if you are not pardoned. If you commit a crime, and then live as a good citizen you still will go to jail for the crime you committed. Right? Just as the president can pardon a crime so you won't go to jail, Jesus can pardon your sins so that you do not go to hell, and can go to heaven when you die.

3. If you will Admit to Jesus Christ that you are a sinner and in need of a Savior, Believe in your heart that He died on the cross and rose from the dead and Accept Him as your Lord and Savior and you will be forgiven and taken to heaven to be with Him when you die.

Joh 1:12 “But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name”

Ro 10:9,10 "that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.."

You cannot get to heaven by being a good person, going to church, baptism or any other way other than by turning to Jesus, believing in your heart that He died on the cross and rose from the dead for your sins and placing your trust in Him. While these are good things to do, some people believe that they will get to heaven if they do these things, but the bible says that there is only one way to heaven and that is through receiving what Jesus Christ did on the cross for you.

Will you do that today? If you will, you can be 100% sure that you will go to heaven when you die.

DO YOU BELIEVE THAT JESUS CHRIST DIED ON THE CROSS AND ROSE FROM THE DEAD FOR YOUR SINS?

ARE YOU WILLING TO TURN TO JESUS CHRIST FOR SALVATION?

4. If you are willing to accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior and believe it with all of your heart, you could pray something like this to God from your heart:

"Dear Lord Jesus, I believe that You died on the Cross and Rose from the dead for my sins. I ask you to come into my heart and forgive me for my sins, save me, take me to be with You when I die. I now receive You as my Lord and Savior. Thank You for saving me. In Jesus holy name, Amen."

If you have placed your faith in Jesus Christ and meant it with all of your heart, you are now a child of God and will go to heaven.

Now that you are on your way to heaven, you should attend a bible believing church and follow in baptism.
None are willing on thier own

It is true that Christ is the means by which Jehovah saves the world of fallen mankind. But why do you think everyone who is saved will go to heaven? Aren't you ignoring most of the Bible that speaks of life on this planet forever?

Psalm 37:9-11,29
Isaiah 11:6-9

Why does everyone WANT to go to heaven? There is no physical intimacy, no trees, no rivers, no animals, no gardens, no sailing on the sea. We were meant to live here on the earth, and that is where most of us will live forever. God didn't make the earth for nothing. (Isaiah 45:18)

Also, I am amazed that someone can quote Romans 6:23 and yet talk of people going to "hell." Romans 6:23 says explicitly that sinners are paid with DEATH, and not consciousness in a fire. It can't happen both ways. Either unrepentant sinners DIE or they don't die and are tortured forever.

If you want to live on a paradise Earth forever, doing all the things you love to do now but with a healthy body and lots of energy, then listen to Jesus and what he says that we must do now. One good start is his Sermon on the Mount.
