Not so...he specifically said at least twice that I recall that he couldn't disclose the breakdown of the vote. We'll probably never know for sure, but it's a mistake to say the decision was unanimous--we simply don't know.
I will see if it is on youtube and listen again, I might have misunderstood/misspoke. Could have sworn I heard it said though...
Better question: Why did it come to this in the first place?
Well when a cop tells you to do something (get out of the street) maybe the response should not be to attack him while he is in the car. The cop is not the villain here but, this young man surely was.
Wilson isn't exactly a small dude, just for the record.
I'm sure he looked small to a 6'4" 250+ pound man looking down at him sitting in his police cruiser. Size really is not the issue though was it, Brown attacked him but, I suppose the cop was supposed to take it...:nono:
The story has legs for multiple reasons. Race is one. The militarized response is another. Then there's the cheapness of black life and the fact that the police can (and do) kill with impunity. Lots of issues at work here.
Cheapness of black life? Please...There were 244 murders in Chicago this year 74% were black male and 70% of these murders were black on black killings so, if black lives are cheap it is because blacks themselves count it as such. I believe it is time for the black community to take some responsibility
shocked: oh the horror) for their own failings. When violence & bloodshed seem so common amongst their own it is just absurd to blame all of their failings on "ole whitey", though I know that is much easier than addressing a much deeper problem it seems.
