It was terrific. There was a four year old boy with a visible birth defect playing with Jack when he noticed it.

He got very still, looked at the boy and asked, "Does it hurt?"

The boy smiled at Jack and said, "No. I was born like this."

Jack's response? "I have a big head."

They were fast friends for the next half hour.

I love being his dad.

He's always saying and doing things like that...amazing kid, really. I suppose everyone feels that way about their child but I don't know how else to see it. He has great empathy and the wheels are always turning in those brown and green flecked eyes.

I don't know if I should take that as a sign of God's confidence or lack thereof.
