Yes, it is bizarre. I cannot believe how they can both be so ensnared by the devil to be in competition on who obeys the least and think it is good to not obey anything ever.

Jesus says obey him.
Calvinists say, "No, save me first and then I will obey."
Robert Pate says, "No, I will not obey, but I will claim to believe."
No, Robert says that he would like to obey, but because he is still in his sinful Adamic body he can't obey.
He is also fully aware that he needs to be changed, 1 Corinthians 15:51-54.

Pate says, "No, give me my new body first."
Jesus says it is about what is spiritual.
Pate says, "No, give me my new body first."
I believe Paul, "There is none righteous, no, not one" Romans 3:10.
That's does not mean you don't have to be faithful to Jesus, friend.
Works based, Jesus denial won't work... Friend.
You either BELIEVE that He is He and paid your entire sin debt for your lifetime... or you get to see if you can afford the heavenly tab of perfection.

This is what so many hate about Calvinism - Puppet/Robot theology. Read the bible for all its worth. The whole Bible to get the whole picture.
Any **** can isolate a verse - out of context - and therefore allege it means something opposite to what it actually means. Calvies have less than a dozen verses, non of then in context - no wonder it is a false man made conglomeration of shite leading the human race astray.
Anyone remember what Jesus Christ said about leading his sheep astray ? Seems TulipBum does not.

Paul is quoting the Old Testament where it is said that no one is righteous and has not ever sinned.
There are righteous people who do not sin, but again, there is no one who has not ever sinned.
You misuse the scriptures just like the Calvinists do.
And, you know how that drives you crazy?
So why not consider what I am saying?
The Bible shows us that Paul was quoting the Old Testament.

It is not denying Jesus to obey his words.
Works based is about things that really do not matter when it comes to doing right...like getting circumcised is works based and does not matter anymore.
Think of works in two ways...purification/ceremonial works; and, God's work.
We have to do what God says to do.
It is good, EE.
How can you do what Jesus says and not say how good it is?
When you forgive others as Jesus says to do, it feels good deep in your heart, does it not?
When you do anything that Jesus says, is it not right and feel so good?
Don't be afraid to say we have to obey, for Jesus is patient and long suffering.
Who would like it to preach against those who preach obedience?
The devil likes it.
