The entire point was that they are NOT equivalent. The point is that social distancing is like not letting a drunk drive- because he can hurt others.
Horrible happens in Ecuador on a regular basis? If it was a video of Italy, Spain, NYC- would you then show a little empathy?
And sorry, I am not going to let you play the "take the other guy's point, push it to an extreme, and then say- "see!" . I am not, not is anybody, as far as I know, claiming we need to get to zero deaths.
This is a reason behind Trump supporters encouraging others to place their lives at risk - their leader demands that his subjects defy the statewide "lockdowns" and leave the relative safety of their homes to fulfill some contrived test of their bravery in the face of a worldwide pandemic!
These kinds of posts council the readers ignore all common sense, which is not only wrong but inherently "evil" - who knows as to how many forum members out there are impressionable people willing to take these misguided posts at face value and sacrifice their lives by going back to work too early so that Trump can be re-elected in November!
For those who own and operate this forum, I would be having second thoughts and consult a lawyer as to its moral and legal exposure should someone cite these posts as their reason for leaving the safety of their home and contacted COVID-19!

I'd been waiting for Trump to reopen the nation for business since he bowed to a false narrative and closed it. In other words I was a long way ahead of Trump, and I know a lot of people who agree with me. We all thought it was insanity to shut down business and destroy the nation's economy over something less deadly than the flu. A bunch of us had the coronavirus a month or more before the media and government announced the first cases in the US. We knew the media narrative was nothing more than hysteria/panic driven by a narrative pushed relentlessly by the socialist left.
All those people out protesting are angry, very angry, and they're just as angry with Trump as they are the Democrats, RINOs, and media for forcing them to shut down their businesses and violating their constitutional rights. Not everyone in this world is panicked out their skull like you are. We face death every day, and the death rate from the coronavirus is less than the death rate from the flu.

Yesterday evening at 8.00pm, just like on previous Thursday evenings, we went outside, nearly all of us, and we clapped for the Key and Essential workers who are doing their best to keep us safe and secure during these times.
Over this issue we are not divided, we are together. Unity is stronger.
There could be unity in your country but for people like you...... do you realise that?
It's a kind of communal love.
