  • My wife is having surgery this morning and I will be sleeping at the hospital with here for the next few days. Won't be posting much between now and Thursday.

    AMR
Beats me, AMR...I wasn't paying attention to it (mostly just enjoying the liner notes for a while now) but AB noticed it and pointed it out to me. Sure enough, I did it again, apparently. :chuckle:
:wave2: How are you doing? Dr. Lloyd Ogilvie, wasn't he the pastor of Hollywood Presbyterian Church, and the US Senate Chaplain.
I suppose I spent so much of my initial Christian life enamored with the Apostle John that going beyond profession of that central faith within the Body would have felt more like the old me going after from without. I have tended to avoided it scrupulously. :chuckle: Since arriving here I've had the tendency, as you note, of hiding in plain sight, not desiring to inadvertently cause a stumble and being generally disinterested in the sort of platitudes or ill conceived and poorly constructed opposition I felt certain I'd meet by ratio (given a broad reading of many knee-jerk fanatics of this or that dogma here) for every helpful response.

I'm weary from it and find the practice slipping away from me. I've also noted a change in some positions as my thinking and exposure on the subject deepens, but that's to be expected. Some thoughts strengthen and others fade...Christ remains.
It's funny though how God can use any situation to square us up...I think the chief difficulty for those in plenty isn't so much the adoration of excess as the want of reflection and honest appraisal that comes with hardship of any sort. So there's a blessing to be had in the midst of troubles. :e4e:
Quick question: What are your thoughts on Romans 7 and 8 and Paul's status before God (saved or unsaved in Romans 7)?
I own this home and the one north of Georgia. My will leaves the homes to two of our children and their names are on the deeds to make transfer simple and untaxed. I still have some intention to have a winter place in Arizona, but without any family there, it would have to be something inexpensive, Bob would not be thrilled with the idea; however, the cold, even in Georgia is too much. What I need to do is have my daughter sell her home in St. Louis county and move out here. She wants to wait until her youngest son finishes high school, which will be next year. Perhaps then I will spend Winter out in Arizona. I would not leave my home in Georgia as long as I live and my son wants to retire there. It is high in the beautiful lake country and, naturally, a bit cold in winter.
We have moved to our home in Missouri; it is still rather cool here. Hope all is well with you.
