Why America Loves War

IF you let a Communist Government run its course such as Red China,

the Students and intellectuals eventually get into the Government

and LIBERATE the people and the Economy.

And so there is NO NEED FOR ANY WAR AS LONG AS NO HARM IS DONE

TO THE PEOPLE. Unfortunately , the government at first, does harm to dissenters.

your pathetic thread is an insult to all those who gave there life for freedom which you don't understand or appreciate
We always have a bogeyman we're supposed to be afraid of. Fascism was real, even though we had many of our biggest businessmen making millions off of Germany's reign of terror and then off of our war effort. After WW2 it was the first time many businesses did not return to peacetime production. War became big business, and business had to be drummed up to sustain the industry. It was the birth of what Eisenhower named the military/industrial complex. Other businesses had difficulties with foreign laws and regulations. The military leaders need a justification for their existence, and always want bigger, more deadly toys that also need justification. The military industry grew and grew developing those bigger, more deadly toys for the military, and politicians stay in office if they can manufacture consent for a war against our present bogeyman by generating fear. The CIA did its job of stirring up the conflicts and manufacturing the public relations (fear). This is how empires are built. And behind it all is acquisition of wealth, typically through resources. Oil to run industry and transportation, minerals for industry and sale, lumber, food products, and now even water. It used to be diamonds, gold, sugar, latex, and pineapple plantations, now it's exotic minerals for electronics, oil (including pipelines), and as I said, water. Empires exploit weaker nations economically first, and if governments try and intervene the businesses involved request military intervention in the name of "our national interests". If we can replace their government with a puppet, even if they terrorize the population, we're satisfied. All it takes is to convince the U.S. population that our bogeyman is at work in the target nation.

I believe that sending our young to die for lies is more than an insult to them. It's criminal.

This is a ridiculously stupid post. I think America would be very happy to be at peace.
Most Americans would be happy to be at peace; America, the hegemonic Empire, views war as a means to an end.

It's true. We love righteous violence, a lot. The most common narrative in our culture, by far, is the narrative of annihilating the 'bad guys'. We don't just catch them and hang them; we obliterate them in a hail of gunfire, or obliterate them in huge explosions, or we see them beaten mercilessly, to death, by the 'hero'. We love this stuff! We fantasize about it. We horde guns and wish some "scumbag" would just try and cross us!

We are an insanely violent culture. Our heroes never compromise or negotiate their way through problems with others, they obliterate the opposition in a massive display of violent revenge.

We have a violent culture because it is nurtured by those it prospers. Even football was originally designed to train our young men to become accustomed to violence and injury while also training them to obey without questioning authority. We're conditioned to violence and obedience to authority.

This is quite possibly the best post you have made. You could have just said protecting from evil, and that automatically includes those socialist governments that steal and murder to steal.

Football has its origins in rugby which came from England. So can we blame England for America's love of violence?

Well, you started this thread to complain about something. What is your solution to move America from "loving" war?

He wants America to surrender to Sharia law so the gospel is no longer spread. That is his end goal.

I'm sure everyone knows that war is pretty much driven by economic reasons. And that has been true since all of recorded history. Some historical examples.

-Norse raids of mainland Europe for food and supplies.
-Native American tribes fought other tribes for territory and food.
-The Ancient battle of Megiddo (15th century B.C.) was fought because Egypt's supply of bronze was threatened.

And so on...Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, and their ilk made a lot of money on the "war on terror".

I read about this several years ago, but can't recall the specific book for reference. This will have to do for now. In the book it documented government funding of early football research. I feel that using sports as military indoctrination is minor compared to the militarization of society we have today.

An interesting article. In the early 1900's there were calls to ban college football because it considered too violent and dangerous. There were many severe injuries and deaths. Teddy Roosevelt played a major role is saving football in 1905.

Nazi war criminal Hermann Goering:

"Naturally the common people don't want war: Neither in Russia, nor in England, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But, after all, IT IS THE LEADERS of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is TELL THEM THEY ARE BEING ATTACKED and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. IT WORKS THE SAME IN ANY COUNTRY."

I wasn't "complaining". I was simply pointing out an aspect of reality that many of us do not wish to acknowledge. We are a violent and greedy nation that is at war with someone, somewhere, for the purpose of economic exploitation almost all the time.

But you wouldn't know this from our history books, or from our politician's speeches, or from our incredibly ignorant citizens who are clueless about our own history or current events. You wouldn't know that for nearly a hundred years we waged countless military campaigns against the native people of North America until we nearly erased them from the face of the Earth, so we could take their land and natural resources for ourselves. We called these the "Indian Wars", at the time. You wouldn't know that immediately after that we spent the next fifty years waging military campaigns against Mexico, the Carribean Islands and on the isthmus between north and south America so that wealthy American businessmen could exploit their natural resources and enslave their people. We called these the "Banana Wars". You wouldn't know any of this because they don't teach any of it in American schools. And yet throughout the history of the United States the use of military force to take land and resources from other nations and people, as we pleased, for the purpose of economic exploitation has been so commonplace that we have been engaged in it, somewhere, nearly every year of our nation's existence.

What can we do about it? Well, we could learn our own history. So that we could at least see ourselves as we really are. And then if we don't like what we see, we could maybe try and change it for the future. But seeing ourselves as we are has never been a human strong suit. Especially in America: a nation built on and governed by it's own greed.

No one wants to admit it, but Americans love being at war.

War gives people meaning - something worth dying for. It's 'exciting'. Even for those who aren't directly involved in the fighting. Parents brag about how their kids went to fight. Everyone makes heroes of them. .jpg[/IMG]

I agree w/ Chysostem

this is just nuts. I suppose u think we should have let Hitler win?

WW2 accounts for 4 years, out of 214 years of warfare, so far, that the U.S. has engaged in.

And had Hitler won, it is very unlikely that he would have retained power for very long. It's one thing to rule a country. It's another to rule continent.
