United States vs. United Nations

The United Nations is a loose confederation of many countries, and the United States are a strong federal Union of many (50) countries.

Instead of the UN, the US should open for business, offering to annex more countries to the Union. Eventually the UN would dissolve, and the US would replace the UN entirely.

Your Constitution is a stumbling block, even if a few nations would take that bitter pill for a clear run at the US markets.

For one, it leaves the main policy decisions to the Supreme Court trying to interpret a loosely written constitution that is full of ambiguity. Worse, though, is the failure to prevent the Congress being bought out by large corporations in a way that would be simply illegal is many other nations. It seems corrupt to allow that to happen, but the population seem almost powerless to prevent it, even there is a big majority to change the system.

No, the US Constitution has some good features, but as a product of people, and people from a different age at, it is looking its age now. US Constitution 2.0 is long overdue.

Your laws and "constitution" are better? More "up to date"? That's comical.

I remember how Nikki Haley was picked for her job to run the UN embassy. She was the perfect fit for the UN, because when she opens her mouth, no one cares. Sometimes there are exceptions.

What needs to be changed in our Constitution? I don't know yours and I didn't claim you needed a new one.

There are a number of free trade agreements already in place where many other countries have access to the US market.

It limits what can be done, and 999 times out of a thousand, it's trivial to stay within the limits. And if the limits aren't right, then there is an orderly procedure to alter them, which the US has done over a dozen times since 1789's ratification of the Constitution.

The Supreme Court's rationale is reasonable to me. News companies spend 100% of their money on promoting their own political agenda, and it isn't reasonable to limit these companies in this regard, so therefore, all other companies and individuals ought to have the same right. I don't see a hole in that logic.

The biggest black mark on the Constitution is slavery and the Civil War that remedied slavery (650,000 Americans killed). In the Constitution itself, was the solution to its biggest problem, and that is the strong federalism, that justified the Union's otherwise aggressive invasion of the South (the now defunct Confederacy).

Europe in the last hundred years started two World Wars (100% of World Wars in fact) and a 40% successful failed attempt to exterminate the Jewish people from the earth. You have to go back 150 years for the end of slavery in the US.

Are the Canadian "hordes" storming across the 5250 miles of common border to get into America - do the residents of Windsor Ontario want to more across the river to live in Detroit?

As difficult as it may be to accept, Canadians and much of the developed world all "thank their lucky stars" that they don't reside in "The People's Republic of Trump!"

Europe's got both World Wars, and Hitler, pretty recent in the rearview mirror. America's closest thing to those horror shows is slavery and the Civil War, over 150 years ago now. The Constitution has a better track record, and for longer, than Europe does.

When you allow the Child Heath Insurance Plan that provides healthcare to 9 million of America's most vulnerable children to lapse, that speaks volumes as to where the values of America's leaders lie!

Trump has been in office less than a year and the problems he inherited are being dealt with quite masterfully. Detroit is Trump's fault too? You're so blinded by hate that Trump is the only thing you post about, try some other threads for a change.

Where are Trump's tweets expressing his outrage that the Republican Congress allowed the health insurance for 9 million of America's most vulnerable children to lapse or that this week's tax legislation will result in premium increases that will force 13 million citizens off "Obamacare?"

Whatever happened to the better, cheaper healthcare system that Trump promised during the 2016 Campaign?

The fact that neither Trump nor his supporters are capable of dealing with criticism is not my problem!

War on poverty being, steal from people? Because why? 'Ends justify the means? Doing good, the means are always inherently just, you don't need to justify the means with the ends, when you do good.

Given that this is a Christian Forum and that Jesus spent much of His Ministry caring for the poor, responses like this reflect just how far we've drifted away from fundamental Christian values!

I have no problems with criticism of Trump, it's the lies about incest and molesting that are atrocious. Complain about healthcare and all the rest of Trump's policies all you want, nobody cares.

You have a nasty habit of being incapable of staying on the thread topic.
