Doesn't matter as far as the prohibition on foreign campaign contributions goes. And that is itself a disputed point. Most spies don't admit to working for their governments either.
So he's cool on that.

And the Trump campaign took the meeting. Doesn't matter who approached whom.
Just like the Clinton Campaign took the meeting with Fusion GPS who were peddling info a British guy was getting from Russia.
Is that the problem? Did Trump not run thru enough intermediaries?

When Veselnetskaya emailed, DJTJ to set up the meeting, she said that it was part of the Russian government's support for Trump's campaign. She now says that she doesn't work for the government, but she has in the past and she said that she was when the meeting was set up.
That sentence alludes to something and if there's some there there then that will be where it is.

Nunes was just on FOX and says this completes Phase 1 of his ongoing investigations. Phase 2 involves the State Department and their shady dealings under Hussein's(Barack) regime.
Bring it on - when you have Devin Nunes on your side, who needs enemies!

To quote that great American "patriot," Donald Trump Jr., this memo was a "NOTHINGBURGER!"

CARTER PAGE
********************************************
1993 - graduated from the United States Naval Academy
- worked as a researcher for the House Armed Services Committee
- served in the Navy for five years, including a tour in western Morocco as an intelligence officer
********************************************
1998 - after leaving the Navy, Page joined the Eurasia Group, a strategy consulting firm, but left 3 months later
- Pages superiors described him as having a strong pro-Russian stance was "not a good fit"
- Page's foreign-policy views had "an edgy Putinist resentment" and a sympathy to Russian leader Vladimir Putin's criticisms of the US
- Page became increasingly critical of US foreign policy toward Russia, and more supportive of Putin, with a US official describing Page as "a brazen apologist for anything Moscow did"
********************************************
2000 - Page joined Merrill Lynch as an investment banker with the firm's London office, became a vice president in the company's Moscow office, and later served as COO for Merrill Lynch's energy and power department in New York
- worked on transactions involving Gazprom and other leading Russian energy companies
- left Merrill Lynch in 2008, Page founded his own investment fund, Global Energy Capital with partner James Richard and a former mid-level Gazprom executive, Sergei Yatsenko
********************************************
- Page was frequently quoted by Russian state television, where he is presented as a "famous American economist".
- 2013 - Russian intelligence operatives attempted to recruit Page, and one described him as enthusiastic about business opportunities in Russia but an "idiot"
- 2014 - Page became the subject of a FISA warrant by the FBI, approximately 2 years prior to Trump becoming a presidential candidate and before Page joined the Campaign as a foreign affairs advisor in 2016

The Nunes Memo focuses on just one in a succession of DISA warrants for Carter Page sought by the FBI that had been investigating him since 2014!

The FBI would have been negligent in their duty if the they hadn't been investigating an American citizen whom they believed the Russians were trying to recruit.

The fact that the Trump Campaign, in its infinite wisdom, would later hire Carter Page as a foreign affairs advisor, who was already under investigation, was not the fault of the FBI.

And the democrats are hoping he'll do it. Another memogate would be great.

And Trump has managed to find one more way to separate republicans from the rest of America:

Why it matters: Trump, who earlier turned a huge swath of Republicans toward more favorable opinions of Russia, has now turned his party against his own FBI.

The numbers: FBI approval in the SurveyMonkey Poll, taken over the past two days, is 64% among Democrats and just 38% among Republicans. Unfavorable opinion of the FBI: 47% in the GOP; 14% among Ds.
As you see below, overall opinion of the FBI fell over the past year in the two polls we compared, likely driven entirely by falling approval from Rs.

https://www.axios.com/gop-turns-on-fbi-survey-78c4f486-8755-4c9e-be99-a1567bd3a625.html

The findings show 49% of independents have a favorable view of the FBI and 28% have a negative view.

Many Republicans will now see Mueller's report or recommendations as a political document, and the conservative media will portray it that way.
It's the great muddying we have been telling you about since December.
This is a massive swing from the initial bipartisan accolades for Mueller.
When the special counsel was named last May, Newt Gingrich tweeted: "Robert Mueller is superb choice to be special counsel. His reputation is impeccable for honesty and integrity. Media should now calm down."

Turns out, honesty and integrity aren't what Trump was looking for.
