A high quality Swiss Army knife, a large ball of strong twine, a radio that can be powered by manual rotation, a medium sized hatchet and a blow torch.

3. Bear Grylls Ultimate Survival Knife (comes with a flint )
4. Small inflatable boat (the kind that easily fits in a pack) for fishing or cutting up into useful pieces of plastic (e.g. solar still, if no fresh water is available)
5. Diving mask

And if allowed a sixth item ...

6. Men's Speedo "bikini" bathing suit (to repel any savages that might try and land on the island! )

A "very good" knowledge of how to survive on a Desolate Island without anything. - Survival is possible anywhere; one can never know what you'll need. Being mentally prepared is all one needs. - Am I wrong??

Well, being mentally prepared is of optimal importance for survival in almost any situation I would think. Good point!
