No, whatever it is you do for a living (engineer?), I've been on the record for a long time saying that I believe socialism can be outperformed by a market economy. I think history bears it out. I also think that without some restraint it's about as immoral an institution as you could have. We're failing to restrain the worst lessons and impulses these days, there's too little noblesse oblige on hand despite the efforts of a handful of captains, and we cover corporate greed with the invented virtue of the stock holder obligation, putting a little guy layer of paint over a pitted husk. I think that's why we have a real rise in socialism among the young.

France appears to be doing well enough. Maybe not. As it's not really my argument I don't invest in it. But then, how well is our country doing for the average Joe these days? The middle class is being squeezed into nonexistence by the upper class, who more and more consider themselves internationalists. Leaving the country over taxes would have been a source of shame a few generations ago, when the rich were paying more taxes. Today it's a headline.

No, I think that's about right as sums go. Socialism is moral in intention, but fails to recognize the inherent and strident immorality in man. Worse, it fails to understand that you can harness some of that lesser impulse to do more actual good.

White people are historically the most successful and dominant people on the planet- it's just against the rules to say it

Certainly by historians, where the rule is accuracy. Off the top of my head there's the Aksumite Empire, lasted over a thousand years. Not many white guys in it. The Vedic's in India hit the 1000 year mark. Ditto on race. In fact, we're relative new comers to the empire/domination stage of things and by no stretch the longest lived. What Europeans did was figure out the best expansive use of gunpowder invented by the Chinese.

If you want a European dynasty you have to move fairly far down the list of longevity. The Greeks held one for fewer than 500 years. The Romans had a long run, in two acts. 450 years for the Republic. Augustus and the next leg was around 500 ish. And so on. The fact is that Empires are cultures and tend to begin in relatively small circumstances before spreading out, historically via military might. And that's where gunpowder comes into things...or are we making chit-chat?

It's 'racist' to say that people took the West, rule in every war, and, ironically, even ended slavery.

No, but it's accurate to say the West built a lot of its empire by fashioning a particularly brutal form of slavery that it ended largely when the industrial revolution was making the practice unnecessary for most of the last great empire, the British. And Europe is a little lucky too. The Monguls could likely have taken her but providence interfered. The Moors did gobble a good bit of her for a very long time.

History is tricky. Dividing it by race is mostly a mistaken notion.

The Deplorable SSIO1 says "No matter what anyone says, it's obvious Trump has raised the bar of expected Presidential performance for all following individuals, of whatever party. In level of activity thus far and meaningful results achieved, he's outperformed all previous presidents and set records for successors to emulate or surpass. If he ran right now for re-election he'd win hands down, and that's before the economic recovery REALLY begins to kick in later this year, and then go like gangbusters early next.

New respect for America overseas, an economy that's really beginning to hum, more people working only one job to pay their bills, threats to the country being addressed, energy independence now clearly attainable - all he needs is a Republican Senate and House to get behind him and the Democrat party will be nothing but a bad memory.

People vote their pocketbooks - whether they're the working class, or even the liberal elite snobs who take advantage of so many others to make their fortunes. An example of Democrat-party short-sightedness I saw earlier this week - a strategist told them they needed to start appealing to the "Panera Bread" crowd in an attempt to generate support funding and find a supportive base. This guy couldn't realize that their money is the most important thing on this planet to practically all effete liberals; they may hate this country, Conservatives, religious faith, the unborn, the Constitution and Bill of Rights - but they LOOOOOVE that money. Trump's policies, as much as they may despise him personally, are putting money into their pockets through business activity and investments/stock activity that is on the upswing. As long as they are wealthy enough to afford to be at Panera Bread every day for lunch, they're going to give lip service to Hillary and her like but they'll vote for the guy that keeps their wallets fat.

The Dems had better find some way-out left-fringe adherents who have decent money, or change their message and find out how to put even MORE money into those liberals' pockets - or they're done for. It's gonna be tough to beat Trump at generating economic activity that pays good wages, provides a steady stock market not given to drastic swings and remains on the general incline, and the like. Unless they can do as well or better - they're finished."
