The Mystery of Reconciliation !

Rom 5:10

10 For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.

This blessed reconciliation by Christ's death is a Mystery unto the carnal mind, it cannot be received by it, hence confirming the writing of Paul 1 Cor 2:14

14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

The natural man is simply the person who has not been born again, or born from above Jn 3:3

3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.

You see, the Mystery of Reconciliation, by the Death of Christ, reveals to the saved, that even while they are being enemies, they had been reconciled to God, put into a right relationship with Him !

They were at one ment with God ! In fact, to be reconciled to God is at one ment, from the word atonement as its mentioned in Vs 11 Rom 5:10-11

10 For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.

11 And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement.

That word atonement is reconciliation, and so when sinners Christ died for are still enemies by nature, children of wrath as others Eph 2:2-3 they are nevertheless in an reconciled at one ment relationship with God, while all others are under His just condemnation and wrath Jn 3:18,36.

This the natural mind of man cannot fathom, or appreciate, in fact its absolute foolishness to him !

Another thing about reconciliation that is an Mystery to the natural man and foolishness, is this, those reconciled to God while being enemies Rom 5:10 , dont have their sins imputed to them as other people do . Check this out 2 Cor 5:19

19 To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.

See , reconciliation means that the reconciled do not have their sins imputed or charged to them, a whole world of people, jews and gentiles. All the sins the reconciled commit, from birth to the grave, can never be imputed to them. Its not even possible for those reconciled to God to ever die in their sins !

Amen to both parts! Those who were reconciled to God were, according to God's Law and Justice, Legally abjured Righteous by the Blood of Christ from Everlasting Rev. 13:8; Is. 53:6 2 Tim. 1:9, before they are born in time, and born again and given Faith to Believe in Christ. So there are no works for that World of People to perform, and no conditions for them to meet.

Rom. 4:6-8
6 Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man, unto whom God imputeth righteousness without works,
7 Saying, Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered.
8 Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin.

These are a Blessed World indeed !

Another Mystery of Reconciliation, even while the reconciled are being enemies Rom 5:10, and not having their sins charged to them 2 Cor 5:19, is the fact that they are counted righteous ! Yes, God hath imputed righteousness to them without works !

This is seen by scripture comparison. The reconciled dont have their sins imputed to them 2 Cor 5:19 and as such they are forgiven Ps 32:1-2

Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered.

2 Blessed is the man unto whom the Lord imputeth not iniquity, and in whose spirit there is no guile.

Pay attention to holy writ here. Transgression are forgiven, their sins are covered, when the Lord imputeth not iniquity Ps 32:2;2 Cor 5:19

Now pay close attention when Paul quotes David here in Rom 4, here goes Rom 4:6-8

6 Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man, unto whom God imputeth righteousness without works,

7 Saying, Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered.

8 Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin.

,See that ? Even though Rom 4:6 isnt in the Ps 32 quote, nevertheless the Holy Spirit inspired Paul to write it here in Romans, when Paul goes back to David to quote Ps 32:1-2, showing therefore, that them blessed ones who dont have sin imputed to them, are forgiven as well as have Righteousness imputed them without works, without them doing anything, without any action from them whatsoever !

So the reconciled are righteous !

So, technically speaking, the world of 2 Cor 5:19 is a Righteous world !

Now in order for those Christ died for to be reconciled to God BY HIS DEATH, while they are yet enemies Rom 5:10, there must have been an application of the cleansing blood to their account, while they were still in unbelief, because without the taking away of sin by the blood/death of Christ, there's no reconciliation !

Remember, Jesus passed up into the heavens after He died and ascended as the High Priest of His People Heb 4:14

Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession.

And as High Priest He performs the sprinkling of the blood, that is, He applies it to account of those sinners He died for. Isaiah writing of Christ as High Priest Isa 52:13-15

13 Behold, my servant shall deal prudently, he shall be exalted and extolled, and be very high.

14 As many were astonied at thee; his visage was so marred more than any man, and his form more than the sons of men:

15 So shall he sprinkle many nations; the kings shall shut their mouths at him: for that which had not been told them shall they see; and that which they had not heard shall they consider.

Heb 12:24

And to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling, that speaketh better things than that of Abel.

1 Pet 1:2

Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace unto you, and peace, be multiplied.

Now those He died for, He put away their sin before God Heb 9:26

26 For then must he often have suffered since the foundation of the world: but now once in the end of the world hath he appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself [His death/blood].

So thats how those Christ died for are reconciled to God even as in themselves they are yet enemies/unbelievers !

Another Mystery about biblical reconciliation by the death of Christ, which the natural mind cant understand, it is the fact, that those sinners Christ died for, and reconciled to God, even while they are being enemies, they have peace with God, God is at peace with them. Col 1:19-21

19 For it pleased the Father that in him should all fulness dwell;

20 And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven.

21 And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled

God has been reconciled and peace restored to all sinners Christ shed His Blood for, even when they are enemies !

The Blood of His Cross accomplished this for them, not anything they did or will do !

And we know this isn't true of all mankind since many are under Gods Wrath Jn 3:36 ; Rom 1:18, which can only mean Christ's Blood was not shed for them !

Reconciled to Gods Law also !

Not only are the elect by Christ's death reconciled to God while being enemies, sinners, ungodly Rom 5:10, but they are reconciled to Gods Law as well. It , the Law of God cannot condemn them, it cannot lay any charge against them, in fact they are dead to the law, by Christ's death, the body of Christ Rom 7:4

4 Wherefore, my brethren, ye also are become dead to the law by the body of Christ; that ye should be married to another, even to him who is raised from the dead, that we should bring forth fruit unto God.

Now why is this so ? Because of the full satisfaction paid to it by the Cross of Christ. You see, all those charges the law did accuse them of, they were guilty of, had been nailed to the Cross, Col 2:14

14 Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;

Wherefore they became dead to the Law by the Body of Christ, reconciled to it, at peace with it and God ! And this even still while being enemies in our minds against God ! The natural mind of man cannot receive this tremendous truth of the Gospel of God !

The reconciliation is complete !

The reconciled world of 2 Cor 5:19 and Rom 5:10 by the death of Christ, cannot be under any circumstances, not one member of it, under the wrath of God, for reconciliation with God is also peace with God, meaning that through Christ's finished work, God is at peace with the reconciled world through the blood of Christ Col 1:19-22

For it pleased the Father that in him should all fulness dwell;

20 And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven.

21 And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled

In the body of his flesh through death
, to present you holy and unblameable and unreproveable in his sight:

Now the word for reconcile here vs 21,22 is
apokatallassó and means nothing short of:

to reconcile completely !!! This is not a partial or one sided reconciliation as the false teachers tell us, falsifying by saying , God has done His part through Christ to reconcile man, but now its up to man to do his part by accepting it or believing it before it can be a complete reconciliation both ways. Again that's falsifying not found in scripture. This satanic teaching undermines and sabotages the complete sufficiency and efficiency of the death of Christ to have successfully reconciled both parties to one another, that is God to His Elect, and His Elect to God. In fact the word reconcile here goes on to mean: to bring back into harmony, to draw to Himself/Oneself so that the reconciled one becomes devoted to God.

However false teachers deny this, because they are unable to receive the scriptural teaching of being reconciled to God by the death of Christ, even while being enemies Rom 5:10 !

Amen! I believe that to understand this great Truth of God's Elect being reconciled to Him when they were being enemies and unbelievers Rom. 5:10, first a person must be given understanding that man has no part to play in this reconciliation between God and His Elect in Christ, and that this Truth nullifies and makes void all their own works of the flesh they do in their attempt to get themselves reconciled to Him. They would be hard pressed to admit that before their own faith, believing, repenting, or calling upon the name of the Lord, God's decree of reconciling His Elect to Himself was already a done deal from Everlasting, when they were Justified in His sight Rom. 5:9.

Now how was this accomplished ? The text tells us Col 1:20

And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven.

It was solely by /through the blood of His Cross, or His Death, the same Death of Rom 5:10

For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death or Blood of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.

And by it [His Death/Blood] He made Peace with God. And once again, lets now look at the word peace, its the greek word
eirénopoios and means:

I make peace, reconcile.

to make peace, establish harmony

Now this could not be True if both parties have not been reconciled to one another ! It establishes a harmony between God and men. Now it doesnt begin with the men in and of themselves, but of men as they are represented in Christ their Head. Its just like in the beginning man had a harmony with God in Adam, their federal covenant head at creation, before the transgression, so likewise, those men in Christ, whom He represented in His death, burial, and resurrection, they now have a harmony with God, and vice versa because of the harmony that exist between Christ their Head and God !. Now all men Christ represented have no less harmony with God as man had with God before the fall in Adam ! Yes before the fall God was reconciled to Adam and men in him, and Adam and men in him reconciled to God.

The same Truth of the peace/reconciliation the death of Christ would provide for them He died for is seen in the OT Prophets here Isa 53:5

But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.

The word peace shalom means :

completeness, soundness, welfare, peace,peace, friendship

  1. of human relationships

with God especially in covenant relationship

Those whom Christ died for, for whom He was wounded for their transgressions[rebellion], bruised for their iniquities, it effected for them Peace with God and reconciliation with God.

Understand, those Christ died for, God upon Him took out vengeance upon Him for their sins, so that Gods vengeance on their sins has been appeased, Justice for them hath been satisfied, and Peace established

    Isa 54:10

For the mountains shall depart, and the hills be removed; but my kindness shall not depart from thee, neither shall the covenant of my peace be removed, saith the Lord that hath mercy on thee.

So then, the same men who were in harmony with God before the fall in their federal head Adam, have to be the exact same men that were Chosen in Christ their Covenant Head and Surety Heb. 7:22 to have remission of sins Eph. 1:4-7, which means their sin was imputed to Christ instead of them Rom. 4:7-8. So being reconciled while ungodly and enemies is equal to being Justified by God based solely upon the Blood of Christ their Surety Rev. 13:8; Is. 53:6.

But the rest of the world of men who were added to Adam's posterity after the fall have never been in harmony with God and never will, and so shall die in their sins; "for the wages of sin is death" .

Why the be ye reconciled to God ?

2 Cor 5:17-20

Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. 18 And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation;

To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation. Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God

This imperative, in the passive voice may i add, is directed to new creatures in Christ Vs 17, also to them that have already been reconciled to God by Christ's death Vs 18-19; Rom 5:10, to them that have no sins of theirs charged or imputed to them Vs 19.

Now the imperative to them is not to the unreconciled, but the already reconciled, so its not an imperative wherein a choice must be made to either obey or not, be reconciled or not be reconciled, no its an imperative wherein God is actually causing the already reconciled, is causing the truth of it to be reconciled, embraced, receive into their hearts and minds and affections, causing them to receive the truth of them having already been reconciled to God through Christ's death. We know this because the command " be ye reconciled" is in the passive voice,, which means :

The passive voice represents the subject as being the recipient of the action. E.g., in the sentence, "The boy was hit by the ball," the boy receives the action.

Its the living voice of Christ, through His messengers turning the minds and hearts of His people to embrace the truth in Faith. Under the New Covenant it is written Ezk 36:27

And I will put my spirit within you,
and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them.

Its a command as if Christ were to say, let there be light, light would therefore obey the command of Christ, hence Christ shines in the heart the light of the gospel [of reconciliation through Him] 2 Cor 4:6

For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.

So the imperative is not to lost souls separated from God, and dead in sin, but quickened, regenerated souls, new creatures, who are now being reconciled to the truth of their reconciliation/salvation !

Being reconciled to God even when they were being enemies, is proof that their sins had been done away with, and God not imputing them to them 2 Cor 5:19, else they could not have been reconciled to God and received into His favour, which being reconciled entails. The greek word for reconciled in Rom 5:10 is katallasso, which does mean that God receives one into His favour, having reconciled that one to Himself 2 Cor5:18; to be restored to favour; and once again this is true of all sinners Christ died for, which reconciled them to God while they themselves were being enemies, that is being hostile to God and opposing Him.

Those which make up the World God reconciled in Christ, were Elected in union with Him to have remission of sins according to the riches of His Grace Eph. 1:4-7.

Even while being God's enemies, He reconciled that World to Himself by imputing the sins they would ever commit in Time [beginning in their Federal Head Adam], to Christ their Covenant Head and Surety Heb. 7:22; And imputing to them His Righteousness 2 Cor. 5:21. And this was, in the Mind of God, an established Fact when Christ was the Lamb slain from the foundation of the World Rev. 13:8; Rom. 5:9.

Rom. 8:33
Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God's elect? It is God that justifieth.
