The only reason he mentioned it in that interview is because they questioned him about it directly, so of course he defended his past statements on it because Trump is "not even wrong." The fact is that he chucked those talking points out of his coronavirus briefings weeks ago.

And of course he backed off of UV and disinfectant as well, claiming he was just being sarcastic about those things, as if that was anything he should be sarcastic about in the midst of this crisis.

He's claimed the FDA has hydroxychloroquine approved as a treatment when it hasn't and ignored the potential side effects. His sarcasm excuse was feeble as there wouldn't have been an excuse for sarcasm in the middle of a pandemic at all. It was even more feeble when he so obviously wasn't being and just a very much not stable genius...

You notice how the article didn't give actual numbers of those treated, recovered, what was actually "improved"? Here's one metric in what was "improved". The treatment time was lowered from 15 days to 11 days. Too bad the cost is approximately $950 per round of treatment. Senegal has better numbers, by far, and their cost of treatment is less than $15 per recovered patient. One that has no live coronavirus left in the patient.
NYC has 184,000+ cases. It has 15,000+ deaths. It's population is 8.3 million.
Senegal has 1,995 cases. It has 19 deaths. It's population is 16.68 million. They have a much smaller budget for healthcare than NYC. They do have, however, much greater integrity in their response to coronavirus and far lower political agendas than NYC. The results show the success of their approach. Their government actually cares about their citizens. NYC? Very little integrity or caring about their citizens. Oh, and Senegalese coronavirus patients have the highest recovery rates in the world. The majority of them actually get well.
