I YHWH will raise unto David a righteous Branch, a King over the Earth

Yea, it really isn't difficult... if you read Matthew chapter 1, you will get Joseph's genealogy, not Mary's. Women simply were not mentioned "normally" in genealogies. ...

The fact remains that the text in Luke is giving Joseph's genealogy. The attempt to reconcile it with Matthew is just making matters worse.

Whose genealogy is this one:

John was the son, of Chair, the son of Asher, the son of Abraham, the son of Nachman

It is my (Chair's) genealogy, starting with my son. Not that of my wife.

See? Simple.

I believe that it is you that it says A, but you read B. You are practicing eisegesis, reading into the text from your pre-conceived notions ("don't bother me with the facts, my mind is already made up").

Nowhere in the text (3:23) does it say that "this is the genealogy of Joseph". The text says:
Now Jesus Himself began His ministry at about thirty years of age,
-being (as was supposed) [assumed] the son of Joseph-,
the son of Heli,
[beginning the genealogy which goes all the way back to *ADAM].
*note it goes back to the source of the original sin.

Bs"d

I'll spell this out for you:

Now Jesus Himself began His ministry at about thirty years of age, being (as was supposed) the son of Joseph, the son of Heli, 24 the son of Matthat,[d] the son of Levi, the son of Melchi, the son of Janna, the son of Joseph, 25 the son of Mattathiah, the son of Amos, the son of Nahum, the son of Esli, the son of Naggai, 26 the son of Maath, the son of Mattathiah, the son of Semei, the son of Joseph, the son of Judah, 27 the son of Joannas, the son of Rhesa, the son of Zerubbabel, the son of Shealtiel, the son of Neri, 28 the son of Melchi, the son of Addi, the son of Cosam, the son of Elmodam, the son of Er, 29 the son of Jose, the son of Eliezer, the son of Jorim, the son of Matthat, the son of Levi, 30 the son of Simeon, the son of Judah, the son of Joseph, the son of Jonan, the son of Eliakim, 31 the son of Melea, the son of Menan, the son of Mattathah, the son of Nathan, the son of David, 32 the son of Jesse, the son of Obed, the son of Boaz, the son of Salmon, the son of Nahshon, 33 the son of Amminadab, the son of Ram, the son of Hezron, the son of Perez, the son of Judah, 34 the son of Jacob, the son of Isaac, the son of Abraham, the son of Terah, the son of Nahor, 35 the son of Serug, the son of Reu, the son of Peleg, the son of Eber, the son of Shelah, 36 the son of Cainan, the son of Arphaxad, the son of Shem, the son of Noah, the son of Lamech, 37 the son of Methuselah, the son of Enoch, the son of Jared, the son of Mahalalel, the son of Cainan, 38 the son of Enosh, the son of Seth, the son of Adam, the son of God." Luke 3.

So everybody who is not struck with total blindness sees that here a genealogy is given from Adam to JOSEPH.

As everybody can also see, there is no Mary to be found, not in the genealogy I posted, and not in all of Luke 3.

Isn't there.

Doesn't exist.

So if anybody wants to say that this is not the genealogy of Joseph, but that of Mary, then he is totally off his rocker. :confused:

As far as Gen 3:15, it makes your god look foolish to state that he makes this
frivolous prophecy concerning the mother of mankind and the father of the snakes (reptiles). Seriously? Duh?[/QUOTE]

Nothing is simple for people who are so struck with blindness
that they cannot even figure out the original curse from Genesis 3:15.
And I will put enmity between thee and the woman,
and between thy seed and her seed;
it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.

Nice verses. It is clear to whom the first set apply to- the same fellow who can't understand the plain meaning of a Hebrew text.

Isaiah 29:10-12
For the LORD has poured over you a spirit of deep sleep,
He has shut your eyes: the prophets; [no prophets for 2,000 years]
And He has covered your heads: the seers. [no seers for 2,000 years]

The entire vision [Prophecy] will be to you like the words of a sealed book,
which when they give it to the one who is literate, saying,
“Please read this,” he will say, “I cannot, for it is sealed.”

Then the book [Tanakh] will be given to the one who is illiterate, saying,
“Please read this.” And he will say, “I cannot read.”

Deuteronomy 29:4
Yet to this day the LORD has not given you a heart
to know, nor eyes to see, nor ears to hear.

Jeremiah 5:21
‘Now hear this, O foolish and senseless people,
Who have eyes but do not see;
Who have ears but do not hear.

Ezekiel 12:2
“Son of man, you live in the midst of the rebellious house,
who have eyes to see but do not see, ears to hear but
do not hear; for they are a rebellious house.

Isaiah 6:9-10
He [YHWH] said, “Go, and tell this people:
‘Keep on listening, but do not perceive;
Keep on looking, but do not understand.’

Render the hearts of this people insensitive,
Their ears dull,
And their eyes dim,
Otherwise they might see with their eyes,
Hear with their ears,
Understand with their hearts,
And return and be healed.”

What I find interesting is that it seems that a third of the jewish people will be saved. Do any of you brothers think 1/3 of Gentiles will be saved.

But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

Mathew 24.

Is this a blanket statement by Jesus. It looks to me that proportionately speaking that more Jews will be saved. What do you think my brothers in Christ.? Or any Jewish brothers that are on this site that are interested?

I will make mortal man scarcer than pure gold
And mankind [rarer] than the gold of Ophir.

Isaiah 13:12

"Earth" here is actually the word for "Land". It does not imply the entire planet Earth. As is clear from the following verse:

In His days Judah will be saved,And Israel will dwell safely;
It's the same word used here:

Gen 1:1 (AKJV/PCE)
(1:1) In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

Does this NOT refer to the entire planet?

There is no connection at all to that Mt 24 verse and the fraction of Jewish people saved in the future. sheesh.

Christ our righteousness is a 'king over the earth' insofar as he is preached correctly as the enthroned Lord of the universe, Acts 2:30+, which is what David himself was talking about. It is a kingdom that is not made with human hands.
