She has a bulging disc and bad arthritis, she is now scheduled for steroid shot, which we hear it does wonders for this type of problem. Thanks to everyone for the prayers and thoughts. They are being answered

Hi everyone. I watched the start and parts of the Rock 'n' Roll Marathon today. Wow, was that something. 35 thousand participants.... it was pretty thrilling, even if only enjoying the excitement vicariously. It almost made me wish I was a runner. Almost.
Some six-plus hours later I thought it might be safe to drive on the freeway but I was wrong - the part I needed was still shut down and there were still a lot of people running. I could see them on the other side of the 163 as I followed the detour, and I saw a couple men in kilts (I wonder how Elvis and Batman did) and one of them was half running, half limping - poor guy, he looked in a lot of pain. Someone else was getting sick on the side of the road. But their will to keep going after over six hours made me wish I was at the finish line cheering for these ones, who were going to finish this thing or die trying. Gotta love that indomitable human spirit.
