These things may be "non-negotiable " for Catholics, but U.S. law is not based on the religious beliefs of Catholics or followers of any Christian denomination. At least it's NOT SUPPOSED TO BE .
America is not a Christian theocracy - not yet , that is .
As unpopular as it is is to say this, the founders designed America as the world's first SECULAR nation with a sequel government . Catholics have absolutely no right to demand that our government do the things THEY demand. The same for followers of all religions.
The Catholic church is ruled by the Vatican in Rome. If the Vatican tells Catholics they may or may not do this or that , this is one thing. But the Vatican has absolutely no jurisdiction over U.S. law .
