Drugs can be and with alarming frequency, are abused. But drugs can and do provide benefits to those who use them. God created marijuana. He created alcohol (naturally occurring in nature) and Willow Bark and a great many other things that can be used to help people. Instead of condemning things because they might get us high, we need to look closely at why God created these substances and ask ourselves what benefit it may possible provide lest we throw the babe out with the bath water, as they say.
Its high time. . .
Couldn't have said it better myself.
GG: You wrote about conducting one experiment in particular that changed your perspective on crack addiction. Could you describe it?
CH: It was a pretty simple experiment. Previous testing with lab rats had shown that providing alternative reinforcers — sweet treats, access to a sexually receptive mate, a running wheel — could decrease drug-taking behavior among animals that have learned to take drugs.
The next question was simply to ask: If you provide crack cocaine addicts with alternatives like money, will they take the money or will they take the drug? It turns out that they'll take five bucks or a merchandise voucher over a low dosage of crack a good amount of the time. Those results contradicted the popular conception of the "crackhead" as someone who couldn't turn down another hit.
GG: Your findings went against what scientists were saying in the late '90s. Did you feel any pushback from the scientific community?
CH: That study ran in 2000, and it mostly went unnoticed! Back then, science was enamoured with the brain, but we didn't have any brain imaging in the study, so we were met with, "Who cares?" I did a subsequent study with methamphetamine addicts — same results. But they just ignored it! Only now has that study received some attention, in part because of my book.

Unfortunately, God is not the author of confusion. There is no evidence in Genesis that God created marijuana. In fact it is well known that the modern 'super-potent' strains of marijuana are all artificially bred plants that were deliberately created by drug dealers themselves. This is purely a case of a potentially useful but morally dubious tool, genetic engineering, run amok. That God created the original hemp plant, which wouldn't get you high if you smoked 2 pounds of it, there may be little doubt. Although even that question is now open. The fact is, although Genesis does record God making plants and animals in the beginning, there is very little data on what species He actually created. We are quite certain that men have created thousands of species via genetic destruction and manipulation, and since it only took men a mere 100 years to 'evolve' the technology, its likely that pre-flood civilization also had extensive technology and ability to engage in genetic manipulation. Its high time modern Christians understood the implications of what is all around us, and acknowledged that a naive and clueless head-in-sand interpretation of Genesis is inadequate for Christians to arm themselves against crafty and clever and very evil drug dealers. You have posted links to questionable websites, so I see no reason not to post accurate links to what drug dealing does to whole countries, with the warning that yes: EVIL is GRAPHIC and EVIL is HORRIBLE. And all drug dealing, gun running and prostitution should be mercilessly stamped out. WARNING google mexican drug execution at own risk. Horrible pictures of violence against innocent people will be displayed. Drug dealers who murder must be hunted down, honest and proper trials held, and let convictions and punishments ensue. |
No, He is not. You, on the other hand, usually are.Unfortunately, God is not the author of confusion.
There is equally no evidence in Genesis that He specifically did not create marijuana. In fact, there is no exhaustive list in Genesis of exactly each and every plant and animal He created. Or why He created it.There is no evidence in Genesis that God created marijuana.
Same with corn and rice and wheat, they have all been heavily modified by men to better suit our own purposes. Sadly, some value money over all else. In any case, it does not change my position that God created the plant in the first place and that it might have some benefits. In fact it is well known that the modern 'super-potent' strains of marijuana
are all artificially bred plants that were deliberately created by drug dealers themselves.
This can be said of anything in creation. Sex is a useful tool for having families but there is no doubt that it can also be morally dubious. Your argument is meaningless. This is purely a case of a potentially useful but morally dubious tool,
genetic engineering, run amok.
Is is a plant of great commercial value that we in America have foolishly blocked ourselves from using because it looks so much like another plant. Oh, hemp does contain the active ingredients of marijuana. That God created the original hemp plant, which wouldn't get you high if you smoked 2 pounds of it, there may be little doubt.
And God provided all the raw materials we would need.Although even that question is now open.

A pharmacist and a doctor are not crafty drug dealers. There are drugs that are incredibly helpful to people.of what is all around us, and acknowledged that a naive and clueless head-in-sand interpretation of Genesis is inadequate for Christians to arm themselves against crafty and clever and very evil drug dealers.
There is no question that illicit drug trade perpetrates great evil in many ways. Legal drugs do not fall into that category. People should have access to those beneficial drugs.have posted links to questionable websites,

Genetic modification of foods, plants and animals is playing with fire.corn and rice and wheat, they have all been heavily modified

I opened with a critical observation of the quality of your threads.Well, Cabinetmaker, you opened with a personal attack,
but then ended up in essence agreeing with me:
Genetic modification of foods, plants and animals is playing with fire.
Yes in a few cases there have apparently been (short term) benefits.
The total impact on the Ecosystem is an entirely different matter however.
Artificially breeding super-potent recreational drugs is hardly a scientific advance,
or the most intelligent use of current scientific knowledge.
In the end you make a very lame plea on behalf of Big Pharma.
Very unconvincing, and alarming.

Frankly, I don't see any points of agreement between us. I find your view of the world far to paranoid to be of any value.
jAnyone addicted has been ajudged. The addiction is the judgment against the sin of the individual and/or of society where the judgment is the lust that accompanies homosexuality. If he is forgiven and granted repentance the judgment is lifted. That man is liberated indeed.
We must take great care in how we think of poor unfortunate souls who are addicted (ajudged) and how we deal with them or else we could fall under addiction (judgment) ourselves.
The just also fall under judgment, trials or testing, but we have the promise that the Good Shepherd will come looking for and deliver us.

Scriptural support please.
thanks

I can't help but note that you ignored every salient point I made and decided to call me a troll and run away. Is that the best you can do when challenged?Yes. You opened off-topic, you open again off-topic here,
and you've stayed off-topic.
You contributed nothing to the thread.
You are a sad little troll.
Troll somewhere else.
If he was one of the co-conspirators that helped to give your son diabetes, and got him hooked on insulin, yes.
On the other hand, if your son got diabetes from following your advice in breaking the Biblical Food Laws of the Noahic Covenant, then I think you'll be going to hell instead, rather than the local cashier at the drugstore.
Was it you who allowed him to indulge in endless sugar-feedings as a kid, or did you allow him to use recreational drugs as a teen, because everyone else did too?
If those scenarios are familiar, I'd say you live in the neighborhood of modern Sodom. Gated community will take on a whole new meaning soon.
I think a lot of people will be surprised when Johnson & Johnson, Dow Chemical and hundreds of "legal" drug pushers are lined up alongside crack dealers and heroin pushers and thrown into the Lake of Fire.
There is a lot more built on sand, and which will pass away, than you can imagine at the moment.

Nazaroo
Let's get this straight. Parent is likely in a diabetes conspiracy by sugar with the clerk at CVS, unbeknownst to them, but guaranteeing the lake of fire for them, should have bought certified organic or something to escape damnation? Anyway, roasting in hell for the likes of one too many candy bars, and you sign it, "peace Nazaroo."
You're a funny guy, really!
only a Russian Communist alcoholic would take the Cana-Wedding story literally, in order to justify boozing.
The real Jesus did no miracle at Cana turning 180 gallons of water into alcohol for an already dangerously drunk crowd of losers, unless he intended to kill them.
The fact is, this is a parable meant to divert the authorities from the real first 'sign', which was the Temple Cleansing, a plain revolutionary and political act and one which the Jewish authorities and Romans took seriously and crucified him for.
Anderson & Structure of John
The Cana Story is a substitute story read publicly while the Church was still an underground movement. The real story, the Temple Cleansing, was read only in private.
