If there is such a thing as freedom of religion, then how is it that Christians are being sued and imprisoned for their beliefs? How or who started this attack on Christians?
There
is freedom of religion, so long as you don't break the law. We are not a theocracy! You are free to practice whatever coo-coo beliefs you hold, so long as you don't break the law or infringe on the rights of other people.
The bible says nothing about gay marriage. There are many types of marriage that God would probably not approve of, but He did not specifically address gay marriage or say anything about how we should treat gay people other than "loving your neighbor." One type of marriage that
was specifically mentioned in the bible as being prohibited by God (which was reiterated by Jesus) is REmarriage. In most cases, if a person gets divorced and then later remarries another, they are thereby committing adultery in the eyes of God. I wonder how closely Kay Davis checked the heterosexual couples she signed licenses for, to ensure that she wasn't assisting in the committing of adultery.
In any case, the marriage license is a government document. You can have a wedding before God in a church (and be married in God's eyes), but forgo the government license if you don't want to partake of the civil benefits extended to the citizens of this country. You cannot; however, prevent another married couple from legally obtaining these same governmental/legal rights in the form of a license.
Kay Davis is hypocritical and is picking and choosing things in the bible in a failed attempt to justify her discrimination.
1 Peter Chapter 2
13
Submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord's sake: whether it be to the king, as supreme;
14 Or unto governors, as unto them that are sent by him for the punishment of evildoers, and for the praise of them that do well.
15 For so is the will of God, that with well doing ye may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men:
16 As free, and not using [your] liberty for a cloke of maliciousness, but as the servants of God.
17
Honour all [men]. Love the brotherhood. Fear God.
Honour the king.
