I should have recognized that I'm sorry. tWINs

PS It would be interesting to see if some could give up their "works" for a week or two ...maybe a pre-lenten discipline.

I don't really understand your point here......do you suppose the Atheists who post here are doing "works" also?

I know as a Catholic I come here trying to make some small points in the explanation of my beliefs and seem to be told that "works" are of no value.

Are not preaching, teaching, arguing "works?"

I believe that I should gather on Sundays with my brethren to hear preaching, teaching, (no arguing) and that if I refuse to attend of my own volition I'm putting myself at risk of hell fire...and so I confess my violations.

It just seems to me that some here use this forum as I use the Church. tWINs

PS As to atheists I guess they would consider what they do "work" bringing knowledge to the "fools."

Is not this whole site a "work" and aren't the posters by posting, in effect, working toward their salvation, by preaching the OSAS doctrine? tWINs
Wow.... lets see... (be nice, Knight, be nice)

Uh... do you know what a "work" is in this context? People who believe in a "works based" salvation believe that "works" are REQUIRED to gain salvation.

The people who don't believe in a "works based" salvation don't reject works entirely, instead they reject that in the dispensation of grace, works are not necessary for salvation. But that doesn't mean we should "tune out" and no longer work.

Works are good! Works are good if done with the right mind-set. Works will not add anything to what Jesus did for us on the cross.

I know as a Catholic I come here trying to make some small points in the explanation of my beliefs and seem to be told that "works" are of no value.
Nobody has ever told you "works are of no value", instead what you might have been told is... "works are of no value in regard to your salvation". If you are going to be "in the debate" you may as well debate accurately.

Are not preaching, teaching, arguing "works?"
Anything could theoretically be called a work. And a work isn't wrong! A work is good! But if you think that you MUST work to be saved it will profit you nothing.

I believe that I should gather on Sundays with my brethren to hear preaching, teaching, (no arguing) and that if I refuse to attend of my own volition I'm putting myself at risk of hell fire...and so I confess my violations.
And because you believe that.... you ARE condemning yourself.

It just seems to me that some here use this forum as I use the Church. tWINs
And if they do... they are going to hell.... just like you are.

Until you accept God's gift of salvation you are not saved. If you think you need to earn your way to heaven you are not under God's grace but under God's law.

So we (OSAS) have negated the 3rd commandment and it appears that the others, are also just suggestions, no longer written on stone but written in our hearts, but if broken, carry no eternal consequence.

We are to give believers (again OSAS) the benefit of the doubt as to our spiritual well being and I say I'm saved than I'm saved no matter the seeming depravity others may observe.

I guess that's why I'm an unsaved Catholic...while I do believe "works are of no value in regard to my salvation" I also believe that disregard of the commandments both the two and the ten can really send me to hell fire.

tWINs

PS I just am having a very hard time believing that OSAS actually believe what they say they do and I'm sure visa versa.

No! Just the opposite, I give people the benefit of the doubt and assume they are NOT saved.

This has nothing to do with your Catholicism but everything to do with your refusal to accept what Christ has done for you.

Knight,

What do you think . . . can a Catholic be saved? :chuckle:

Even blind squirrels eat. :chew:
The corresponding mirror image of that, of course, is that Christians can fall deeply into sin by their own free will (my youngest brother is a prime example), even something egregious as murder.

Which illicits its own expression, this time from the Japanese:

"Even monkeys sometimes fall out of trees."

Knight I still think that your and Turbo's cams would have been far more interestlingly named if they had been titled "Knightvision" and "Turbocam!"

My avatar no longer dances in my personal page...:lucky: thought it might be a size issue, but it doesn't appear to be the case and I don't know why it would suddenly be an issue. Even so, Evo trimmed it down for me but nothing changed. Kimberlyann and assuranceagent's avatars seem unencumbered...and mine moves elsewhere (PMs, postings).

Possessing the technical skills normally found only in Mongol warriors or the sleeping, I'm stumped...stumped like a hungry child in a candy store run by alligators. :idunno:

We have a team of specialists working on your problem 24/7. The government has allocated extra funding because we ran over budget investigating your problem. The oversight committee is confident that with this extra funding we will have a solution to your dilemma within a year or two.

Knight, could you please go to the "Do babies go to heaven" thread and post a response when you have time? A few of us want Biblical clarification for your previous statements. Thanks!

So you're saying that thanks to my avatar problem TOL could be looking at a significant cash infusion with questionable oversight and no real long term solution in sight?

Sweet! :thumb:

Hey Knight, I'm new here.

I started a few posts, and was quite active, then was gone for a few days. I cannot find these old threads now. I tried the Search feature, but it says I don't have permission to access the page.

How can I review/revive these posts.

Thanks

Once you become a registeredPLUS member you will be able to search. registeredPLUS is free, it just takes a bit more participation.
