I guess folks are afraid to try something new or they're pessimistic that anything could work. I really like the college's approach in the link I placed in my first post in the thread. I have friends who went there and man, I wish I did. They graduated with no debt at all. They worked hard while not in class, instead of normal laborers doing menial tasks, the students did it. They got paid around minimum wage, too BUT they learned the value of a dollar long before I did. They use that money to pay off their tuition (whatever grants don't pay) and they don't have to take out any loans. It's a good college, Christian themed and they're careful about who they admit to it but I think it's program that has merit as well.

I have been talking about it with some here who agree, resodko is a pest. Had that thread closed, and now he is hiding his agenda under a mock State thread. Was he not that idiot who used to follow me around, looking for perks? He had the generic goofy avatar? Then was it not him who had a similar name, and acted like the same insipid little pig?

Demonizing, no. As for the thread, emailed Nori asking if our not-so-favorite poster would get yet another pass for ruining a good conversation.

In my case, it's not that I don't think the North didn't benefit, it's a tangled history in that way. But attributing the war to states' rights... I don't believe that, except insofar as they saw their right to be slavemasters threatened. As I said, slavery overshadows all of it.

I don't know... not everyone is ignorant, and those who can argue without trolling have offered compelling arguments. What it comes down to is the history of black slavery overshadows everything.

Yeah....I've kind of decided it's better for may sanity to keep a low profile. I make it a point never to engage just because someone is wrong...I have to see a potential for my own amusement as well.
