Well said. Ask the LA cops (who in my opinion gave Rodney King a beating that he needed) about double jeopardy and federal civil rights violations.

I'm talking about federal oversight. Many police depts. hold back doing aggressive police work because of it. DEEtriot, Newark and Seattle are 3 examples.

My concern is that local police are becoming federalized and taking orders from the Federal government. When this happens, we lose local control of our police forces and they become part of a huge bureaucracy.

I'm glad. I hope you had a good evening. Yes, we won't agree on everything, and yes, we can do that and stay friends because on all that goes into keeping that friendship - we agree.

I think we're not so far apart in age, and my sons went to a pretty high-performing grade school that was a mix of very wealthy, middle class (us) and low income kids. It just happens in this area, it's a little unusual in its demographic mix in that way, but ethnically it was very lopsided - almost all white. I don't know where the lice would originate from, but they sure didn't care what head they landed on. My sons never got them, but I remember it being a little bit of a leveler for a wealthy family to realize we're all the same in some ways whether they like it or not.
