Why I should believe it.
So you can then go around wondering why you shouldn't believe it :rotfl:
Because it is the Word of God.
How do I (or you) know that?
Christ Jesus referred to the OT as "the word of God", "scripture", and "God's commandments".
If you don't believe the Torah and/or Tanakh are the infallible word of God, then you have proven that you place your trust in men and not God.
Which is probably why you place the Talmud over the Torah.
To a Jew, to whom Jesus is not anybody special, what Jesus said is not really that important.
One does not need to believe that the Tanakh is the "infallible word of God" in order to be an observant Jew- or a believing Christian for that matter.
The reason that Jews (including Jesus, by the way) accept the Tanakh is quite simple: it is our tradition. We accept it because of our oral tradition. There is no other real reason. Given that, when somebody says that the oral tradition is worthless and man-made, they are rejecting the written tradition as well.
Think about it.
