The GOP is so desperate for an "Anybody but Romney" alternative that it is going to be funny watching you all drag yourselves to the polling places on election day when Romney is your inescapable, irresistible, unavoidable, destined, and doomed choice.

The election is up for grabs.. if Chris Christie decides to run
That ain't going happen so as they say in Christie's state of Jersey - fuhgeddaboutit
They could still draft him at the convention.
That ain't going happen either. The GOP loves their political saviors from a distance but up close they fail to pass the GOP purity test. Case in point - Rick Perry.
For crying our loud - Jesus couldn't pass the GOP purity test - for one thing - no birth certificate.

Poll: Cain tops 3-way race with Romney, Gingrich

In the Republican race for the presidential nomination, Newt Gingrich's support continues to slowly grow, and he is now tied with Mitt Romney for second place, while Herman Cain just edges both of them out for the top spot. Both Cain and Romney have lost support since late October.

WASHINGTON -- The Republican presidential race is being shaken up again, with Mitt Romney retaking the lead, Newt Gingrich surging into second place, and Herman Cain dropping to third place, according to a new McClatchy-Marist nationwide poll released Friday.

The poll of Republicans and Republican-leaning independents signaled that Romney retains his steady if uncommanding position and that, in the quest by most Republicans for an alternative, they've cooled on Cain and are turning to Gingrich. It's the first national survey taken entirely since the allegations of sexual harassment against Cain erupted into a full political firestorm this week.

"Clearly this race has taken yet another dramatic turn. The top tier has gotten more crowded," said Lee M. Miringoff, director of the Marist Institute for Public Opinion at Marist College in New York, which conducted the poll.

"Romney is still where he's been. It's fair to say this is a battle for the anybody-but-Romney candidate," Miringoff said. "Gingrich has now begun his 15 days of fame. Whether he is able to maintain that, as others have fallen, is the question. He may be the only one standing when this is all said and done."

The breakdown of the poll:

-Romney, the former governor of Massachusetts, 23 percent.

-Gingrich, the former speaker of the House of Representatives, 19 percent.

-Cain, the former restaurant executive, 17 percent.

-Rep. Ron Paul of Texas, 10 percent.

-Gov. Rick Perry of Texas, 8 percent.

No president has ever won re-election with employment this bad. But the republicans, unless they find a decent candidate, may give it to him anyway.

A strong GOP candidate would win in a walk.

This is why President Obama will likely win a second term:

Who-Increased-The-Debt-Revised-Front.jpg

As long as the democrats present the facts to the public about who got us into this mess, and how, the facts themselves will expose the republican platform as absurdly dishonest and hypocritical. And when the republican candidate (whoever it is) continues to spout off all the same tired lies that they have been spouting off since Reagan, the public is going to hear the shallow ring of corporate propaganda in every word.[/QUOTE]

I assume you're aware that Clinton balanced the budget because Republicans took control of both houses of Congress.

Educate yourself before putting up graphs. Graphs don't tell the entire story.

I remember the fight over the budget. The republicans threatened to shut down the government, if Clinton didn't do the budget their way. He called their bluff, after a few days, they folded, and did it his way.

So no, that's not what happened. Clinton imposed a budget on Congress.

If that wasn't so, why did republican presidents who had control of Congress run up much larger deficits than the democrats?

Because Clinton cut military cuts but Bush brought the military back. Thank God for that, we needed it after 0/11.

Also, my husband and I, who are VERY political do NOT remember a fight and bluffs that you speak of.

Please provide proof. Refresh out memories since it's so vivid in your mind.

(CNSNews.com) - Many leading Democrats in Washington these days like to point to the fact that the federal budget was balanced for part of the time that President Bill Clinton was in office. What they do not mention is that those balanced budgets occurred only when Republicans controlled both houses of Congress.

In fact, according to the historical data published by the Office of Management and Budget in the Obama White House, no Congress in which the Democrats controlled both the House and Senate has balanced the federal budget since fiscal 1969--more than 40 years ago.

Here's an article on it:

Gingrich, of course, rose to the summit of power in 1994 and then quickly descended into infamy when he lost a humiliating budget battle with Bill Clinton, and subsequently attempted to impeach the president over Monica Lewinsky amid revelations about an extramarital affair of his own.

In fact, Clinton was the only president since Carter to even get close, and he did it by forcing the Republicans to accept his budget. I will admit that he would also have had a hard time with that budget if the democrats had control of the House. But he did it in spite of the republicans' best efforts to stop him.

The GOP needs to redefine itself as something other than the party of screaming zealots and corporate toadies, so that the intelligent and electable men and women among them will be able and willing to run for office, again.
I couldn't not have say it any better.

GOP support for Perry plummets after debate flub

11/13/2011

After his flub at a Republican debate on Wednesday, Texas Gov. Rick Perry has seen his support plummet among GOP primary voters, according to a re-contact of Republicans surveyed in this month’s NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll.

In the national NBC/WSJ poll (conducted Nov. 2-5), Cain and Romney were essentially deadlocked in the race for the GOP presidential nomination. And among these 102 Republican respondents, Cain was the first choice of 28 percent of them, while Romney, the former Massachusetts governors, was the choice of 27 percent. They were followed by former House Speaker Newt Gingrich at 17 percent, Texas Rep. Ron Paul at 10 percent and Perry at 8 percent.

But in the re-survey of these 102 Republican respondents, Romney’s support jumped up to 32 percent, Cain’s dropped to 27 percent and Gingrich’s increased to 22 percent. And Perry fell to just 4 percent.

So?

The convention is in August. Candidates stars will rise and fall before then.

You're just peeing in your pants and so confused you think a warm front's coming.
