Puerto Rico Governor Pleads For Help As Trump Abandons US Hurricane Victims

By Jason Easley on Mon, Sep 25th, 2017 at 1:30 pm

As Puerto Rico Gov. Ricardo Rosselló is openly pleading with the White House for help in avoiding a humanitarian crisis, Donald Trump is busy tweeting about the NFL, and not planning on offering disaster relief for another 2-3 weeks...

Gov. Ricardo Rosselló said, “We are U.S. citizens that just a few weeks ago went to the aid of other U.S. citizens even as we’re going through our fiscal downturn and as we were hit by another storm. Now, we’ve been essentially devastated. Complete destruction of the power infrastructure, severe destruction of the housing infrastructure, food and water are needed. My petition is that we were there once for our brothers and sisters, our other U.S. citizens, now it’s time that U.S. citizens in Puerto Rico are taken care of adequately, properly...”

Trump is WAY too busy with MUCH more important matters.

Like defining the subtle differences between kneeling or locking arms.

What's the importance of 3,500,000 USA citizens as compared to that? :plain:

Yep. He could, for example send hospital ships to the island to help with casualties. He could be flying in supplies and food.

It's just not a priority for him.

Too much at stake behind the actual, massive greed and corruption propping up the Jones Act and it's resulting triple and quadruple cost of every day goods extortion on that island and it's U.S. CITIZENS.

Too much financially corrupt at stake -even more so, now.

Thus, I'd really be surprised if Trump, an individual who's entire adult life has been one of political corruption for financial gain, together with his fleecing of hundreds of $Millions under Bankruptcy protection laws, lifts the Jones Act - even more so if he does so, permanently.

This too, will backfire on him...

The following from Senator McCain on this Jones Act issue...

“It is unacceptable to force the people of Puerto Rico to pay at least twice as much for food, clean drinking water, supplies and infrastructure due to Jones Act requirements as they work to recover from this disaster,” McCain wrote in the letter...

Note what he is actually having to say to those behind the massively corrupt Jones Act - at least lift your gouging of the U.S. CITIZENS of Puerto Rico, during PR's basically apocalyptic disaster.

By the way, he is still off - as anyone who has ever visited PR and or sent a package there, the gouging is often actually triple and double the resulting end cost of everyday products and services.

Also, many of the various Mid-Acts Bible Based Believers in PR alone - some 600 to 1,000 or so, at last count, have often confirmed this triple and double digit gouging is an everyday fact of life for our fellow U.S. Citizens in PR.

Not to mention all the people from PR, I have come in contact with, over the years.

Anyway, the content of McCain's letter...

It's the shipping industry, not Trump. The Jones Act has been there since 1920

I hear Trump caved and waived the Jones Act. Good for him. He should have done that immediately, but it's still a good move on his part.

Said waiver is only for 10 days.

For a disaster of PR's historic magnitude?

And it is basically "okay, we're going cut out our corrupt gouging of these 3.5 Million U.S. Citizens - just for 10 days.

Never mind that that entire land has been so wiped out that what once looked like Hawaii now looks like Hiroshima after those two bombs...

We're going to cut out our corrupt gouging of these 3.5 Million U.S. Citizens - for 10 days only.

After that, back we can go to so gouging these 3.5 Million U.S. Citizens such that they end up once more forced to paying double and triple the cost of everyday goods and services we've been forcing on them all these decades."

The thing is a one-sided monopoly no different than that once forced on so many everyday aspects of New Yorker's lives, by Trump's Organized Crime pals with the consent of corrupt politicians and financiers.

A monopoly allows what - those in power through it, to gouge it's victims with what ever said monopolizers can get away with.

But like I said earlier, this will all backfire on Trump.

The man who hid under Bankruptcy protection laws when his planned golf course in PR failed, has some nerve.

The man is simply a fraud.

Not even close, bub.

Nobody is forcing goods or services on them.

They can buy anything from anybody in the world.

Yeah, because Trump controls the ability to get help to Puerto Rico. Fake News
Trump has managed to bluff his way through the last 8 months, but the question has always been how he would cope with when confronted with a real emergency!

Puerto Rico has the potential to become a real human catastrophe - without food, water and medical supplies, there is a distinct possibility for the outbreak of communicable diseases usually associated with 3rd world countries.

The clock is ticking, and no matter how much this White House attempts to drift into its own "alternate reality," this Administration has already squandered away valuable time!

Even many of Trump's supporters now admit that he's in over his head. He can't lead, he can't get legislation through, even though his party controls both houses of Congress, and he can't find the character to step up to the challenge.

It's going to be a rough few years.
